No one could have predicted the extent of the disruptions that would affect every part of our everyday lives when COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic in 2020. All responded in the same way, whether they were high school or university students, new graduates, or seasoned professionals: despair. Despair at the possibility of their foreign travel, internships, and career plans being jeopardized due to COVID-19's unparalleled existence. However, the world has now shifted to a virtual model for meetings, classes, work, etc. With many businesses transitioning to a remote workplace, find out how the experience of working in a virtual environment can actually benefit you in the future. Take part in Summer Saga 2021 now! Fill out Digital Diary 1 below using this link! Although the pandemic has brought a slew of new obstacles to the workplace, it has also been viewed as the greatest test of an institution's ability to adapt. Companies are dreaming of creative ways to get back on track, such as turning to online meetings and work-from-home plans and using a variety of online tools to communicate through remote teams, such as Zoom, Google Hangouts, and Microsoft Teams. Universities all over the world are doing the same thing, moving from in-person classes on campus to online Zoom classes, taking advantage of new technologies to ensure that students have access to education. For start-ups and multinational corporations alike, remote work has become the new standard, and it appears to be here to stay even post-COVID. According to a new Deloitte survey (Deloitte Millennial Survey 2020), over 60% of respondents favored the ability to operate remotely following the crisis, as well as the expanded use of video conferencing software. With businesses now working remotely, this article will tell you how doing a virtual internship can actually benefit you

1. Flexibility

One benefit of a Virtual Internship is the improved work-life balance it provides due to the versatility it provides in terms of office hours and length. Working remotely with a Virtual Internship allows you to choose when and how you work instead of being bound by office hours. You can set your own schedule whether you are an early riser or a night owl, as long as you attend online conferences and follow your manager's job deadlines.

2. Travel, time, and costs

One of the most apparent advantages of a Virtual Internship is that it saves time and money on related expenses of commutes to the workplace. When you consider interning in a different city or even a different country, there are additional costs associated with flights and lodging.

3. Learning and Development

Internships offer valuable work experience that will aid you in preparing for the next career phase after graduation. Internships, whether virtual or in-person, offer additional business knowledge and commercial awareness in your chosen sector. It allows you to engage with more seasoned colleagues or gain access to resources or reports that are used. A remote work experience will assist you in adjusting to this modern work climate. If you want to work abroad in the future, it also opens up the possibility of collaborating with foreign organisations to gain experience in intercultural communication and country-specific expertise.

4. Upskilling

In an increasingly linked virtual world, skills such as digital communication, proficiency with remote working apps, and time management skills without being under the supervision of a manager are critical. A Virtual Internship will help you learn and improve different skills that will help you in your future career path, whether it is in business growth, competitor analysis, honing your presentation design and delivery skills, market research, digital marketing, or financial modelling. Virtual internships represent a new way for students to engage in work-based learning even after things have returned to normal. Virtual internships can provide greater flexibility for students to participate in meaningful career exploration and skill-building opportunities. This can have implications related to placement capacity, scheduling, requirements, and more. Additionally, the ability for students to develop remote working abilities early can itself be a meaningful form of skill development. The limitations of the pandemic may be opening up a window for students, schools, providers, and employers that they may not want to close.
