I was 17 when I had to face the daunting task of moving away from home for my higher studies. Having spent my entire childhood in a small-town bustling with conversations over chai and streets filled with joyous sounds of kids playing galli cricket, it was overwhelming stepping into the city that never sleeps. For the first few weeks, I felt like I didn’t belong in the sea of people who were constantly in a hurry to get some place, never stopping to connect with those around them. After my initial inhibitions, I realized that this city could be my new home away from home if I gave it a chance. I started coming out of my shell and I eventually found people who have now become my family.
The first time I went out exploring this larger than life city with my friends, I remember sitting on the rocks in Bandra bandstand and admiring the beauty and serenity of the sea link. Each time I visited the place, I felt the connection between me and the city growing. We made it a point to visit the sea link every year on October 12
th when the beauty of the bridge was amplified by the thousands of pink twinkling lights for breast cancer awareness. Better part of my life in Mumbai involved enjoying the plethora of street food that the city had to offer. Mumbai Metro played a huge part in making the famous khau gali of Ghatkopar easily accessible to us, making our bellies and hearts full. The city that once felt alien had now become a part of myself. Looking back, I never realized how ABG had a silent but strong hand in connecting me to the city through
UltraTech Cement. Though it is true that they have contributed immensely towards a better India by connecting places through bridges and metros, it is the hearts that were connected in the process that make a true impact.
After spending four years in Mumbai, it was time to leave the city that had become so beloved and embark on a new journey. Bangalore, the corporate hub of the country awaited me. I knew I had to stand out from the rest of the crowd and strive to prove my mettle. That was the only way I could fit into this place. Having a penchant for shopping,
Forever21 dominated my social life in Bangalore with their collection available for each occasion while
Van Heusen gave me a boost of confidence in my work life.
ABG has unknowingly been a huge influence in my life. They have supported me through some of the my most vulnerable moments and continue to do so with commitment and passion.
