“Failure is not fatal, Failure is inevitable, if you don’t fail, it perhaps means you aren’t taking enough risks.”
-Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla
We come across challenges and failure in our day to day life. They are a part of life and teach us to move ahead and try again. Even I faced failures but eventually, my hard work and dedication bore fruits.
I am Surya Pal Singh, an engineering graduate from NIT Silchar, currently pursuing MBA from IIM Sirmaur. The significant challenge I faced that changed my life is of engineering years back in December 2013. I got a backlog in Semiconductors subject in the 3rd semester with net CPI (Cumulative Performance Index) coming down to 6 from 7.5cgpa.
That was a shock for me as well as a challenge to improve. Getting back to 7.5 overall seemed a dream. I didn’t tell my parents about this. Now the focus was to achieve what I promised to myself. I went to my Class Representative and shared my problem. The simple solution he told me was to attend all the classes and be attentive. I took his advice and from 4th semester I attended every lecture, completed every assignment within the deadline, prepared for class tests beforehand. I got SPI of 8.25 in 4th semester. That boosted my confidence and morale. I repeated the same for the rest of my semesters and at the end of the 8th semester, I achieved net CPI of 7.5. I was also placed in two MNCs. From this incident of my life, I learnt not to waste opportunities that we have and effectively use them.
Here Mr Birla has rightly said, “Failure is important in life as it teaches us ways to improve”.
