Dots are meant to be connected and being a curious soul, I sometimes find myself pondering about ubiquitous things around me and the random thoughts which they bring. The ever-prevailing construction around my home in Delhi, reminds me of a childhood incident when my parents were getting our house constructed and there were heaps of UltraTech cement bags being dumped outside. My younger brother who was 4 years old at the time would try pronouncing UltraTech and just kept on pronouncing different words, this incident gave us a memory we all still laugh about today. Another thing which has become so ubiquitous these days is the proverbial smartphone and the connectivity provided by Vodafone-Idea is among the best both in terms of quality and economically. Businesses not just create value, they also create memories and one such business group is “The Aditya Birla Group” (hereinafter referred to as “ABG”). ABG has not only created value via their own and self-created brands but also have brought several foreign brands like Allen Solly and Peter England. ABG has successfully managed to impart value and memories across all segments of the society through various ventures such as the: ‘Birla Carbon’ – Making vehicle tire’s much safer, ‘Grasim Industries – World’s fourth largest producer of insulators’, ‘Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited’, ‘Vodafone Idea Limited’ to name a few. To summarize, ABG has contributed to the success of the Indian economy and Indians by superior products, exemplary services, and outstanding professionalism thereby making itself BIG in the life of many Indians like myself.

What drives me, regardless of the nature of the challenges that come my way ? Being a sportsperson since schooldays I have always been an avid participant in different types of sports, basketball being a personal and all-time favorite. I was a part of my school basketball team and after joining college I was eager to join the college basketball team. One unfortunate incident, however, resulted in me falling down and hurting my right knee. After a month of bed rest and plastered leg I
thought I would start recovering and soon be able to get in my regular routine, however, my leg movement did not seem like the way it was before and hence the doctors did an MRI and spotted a major tear in the ACL( Anterior Cruciator Ligament).  The treatment required me to undergo a surgery which would render me on bed rest for 2 months and would require at least 2 months of physiotherapy to get back to normal. Mentally more so than physically I was distraught because I had read previously read about how the injury is very common especially in a contact sport like basketball and how devastating it could be. I had lost hopes to be able to play the sport with the same fervor ever again because I would always have that feeling of the undergoing a traumatic surgical procedure, what I went through and more so what my family went through. The only motivation I could draw at that time was from the memories of playing the sport. I utilized those memories to channelize my feelings and follow through on the rigorous physiotherapy schedules post the bed rest and surgery. The hard work I had to put in was long and challenging but it did pay off in the end and in about a year I was back on the basketball court, I was cautious rather than the carefree me, but I was happy that I did put my best foot forward in an adverse situation.
