Part A: Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life? The very first encounter with an Aditya Birla Group (ABG) product happened when I was school going kid. I was surprised as per se to see during lunch break that food inside my tiffin was wrapped in aluminium foil. The first assumption that came to mind that wrapping it did not to serve any purpose or maybe my mother accidentally put it. But the moment I unwrapped the food from it, I vividly remember how astonished I was from pleasing aroma and warmness of food still had even after being packed for three to four hours. Aroused with curiosity I immediately asked my mother about that silver thing enveloping the food in my tiffin today, she told that she had seen a TV advertisement of “Freshwrapp Aluminium Foil” around one week back and to address the problem of keeping the food fresh and warm she choose to buy it. Therefore, the product itself became an integral part of my childhood memories. I being born and brought up Bokaro Steel City, Jharkhand. Every summer I along with parents and sibling used to travel by road to meet my relatives living in other cities in Jharkhand, during which we used to travel across several villages and smaller cities having poverty struck community. But in the last 20 years situation of such villages and cities have improved largely by mining industry growth happening in Jharkhand. I am very delighted to know that Hindalco mines in Lohardaga, Kathautia, and Dumri were part of the endeavour in lifting many people out of poverty and providing job opportunities to them. Embedding their products into memories of peoples and changing lives of people in many more different ways as such, Aditya Birla Group is big in my life.

Part B: How you overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far? I used to be nervous and inefficient in conveying my viewpoints properly during public speaking events. As I enter the final year of BS-MS Integrated Dual Degree Programme at IISER Kolkata, the fact that I had to explain my final year thesis in the form of a presentation in front of all professors, and all students from my department daunted me. But I took it as a challenge and started building public speaking and presentation skills through practice and inculcating feedback from my peers and seniors. During the last year of my college, I did my thesis on "Seismic imaging of crust beneath Garhwal Himalayas". The experience of preparing, writing, and then presenting my thesis in front of my guide, professors and batch-mates was itself very gratifying professionally. During this period, I also learnt a lot about how to go about finding the topic of your thesis, why this topic, and what does it serves to science and the local community in general. It also helped me to hone my writing skills and presentation skills due to which I achieved the best grade possible for this thesis. The major learning that I derived from this project was that always be optimistic and always have faith in yourself even if the situations right now does not seems so. #IIMInNorth #IIMKsp #ABGLPWooMe-Season_2
