Aditya Birla Group is one of India’s largest conglomerates and also claims to be the most international of the country’s major corporations. The company acts as a holding company for more than 72 manufacturing and services subsidiaries throughout India, and in Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Australia, China, Egypt, and Canada. I came to know about the company through my Industrial analysis subject. During independence, the Birla family became important supporters of the independence movement which were led by Mahatma Gandhi. The best part about ABG is that it has its unique way of streamlining operations, regrouping various industrial operations into a more coherent structure. I am kind of a shopaholic person but the major issue in a student’s life is money constraints. Pantaloons is my go-to place all the time.
Since the inception of Aditya Birla Group, Birla has continuously expanded its network, national as well as international. The company motivates you to keep going until you have achieved your goal.
Aditya Birla Group Leadership Programs is a great initiative to groom individuals to be the future leaders of Aditya Group. They have created different programs for different groups and ages of people. Example, they have a leap program for the experienced people, group internship program and many other programs.
I'm a kid from a small town having big dreams. I was always bring in studies. Studying smart rather than studying hard was my Moto and it reflected in my 10th and 12th board scores (93 & 95). After cracking the common entrance tests, I got myself into one of the best colleges in the state to study mechanical engineering.
Engineering was a piece of cake. Semesters floated by effortlessly. All was fine until I passed my 6th semester, i was constantly asking myself the same question again and again, "what after engineering?". As much as I enjoyed studying engineering, I didn't see myself working in that field. I dreamt of something bigger. MBA was the only option I knew where I would do well. But I had to overcome the biggest hurdle of my life, the task of cracking CAT and other entrance exams.
I immediately signed up for a coaching classes and tried to make up for the lost time in preparing for the years exam.
Arrogance and ignorance got the better of me when I thought I could crack the exam without any effort at all. I didn't attend classes regularly, I missed my mocks, I didn't even care to open the books until the last month until the exam.
Obviously I was devastated after the results arrived. I had expected 95+ but fell into the 81 percentile bracket. I felt so broken that I didn't know where to restart my preparation. I had neither taken good interest in placements hence the only company I got was Accenture but like a fool I had rejected the offer.
After a lot of self introspection, I finally came to the conclusion that my attitude got the better of me. I promised myself to study hard and put efforts if I really wanted a good college to study. That's what I did, for a year, I sat at home and prepared constantly for upto 12hrs a day.
My second attempt at CAT was pretty good. I was confident in my performance.
It was D-Day finally. I got 91 in my second attempt. Although it was short of my goal, I was happy because I knew how much effort I had put to get there. It felt great.
I ended up getting NM-Bangalore and stuck to it as it was the best college I converted in the whole lot I applied to.
