I have always been obsessed with fashion. As a teen I was convinced that I would become a fashion designer, even designed dresses, accessories and shoes. But things changed over time and so did my interests but my obsession with fashion remained the same. I believe fashion reflects who we are and how we portray ourselves to be. Till date I like to experiment with my style and an Indian company as long as I remember that comes to my mind that inspired me throughout to be in vogue and follow my passion for fashion is Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited. I was awestruck when I found out the number of fashion brands owned by Aditya Birla Group primarily famous as a cement manufacturer.
From buying a suit for my interview from Van Huesen to buying a party dress from Forever 21 Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Limited has always been a part of important moments of my life. ABG holds a high emotional quotient in my life as its fashion brands have stuck with me throughout my journey of fad and fashion exploration. After being astonished by the number of ABG’s fashion and retail brands I explored ABG and realised how Aditya Birla Group has been a prodigious part of the Indian society and has influenced lives of people on a massive scale. Right from supplying raw materials to Indian Railways to providing cellular network to all the masses Aditya Birla Group has become the cornerstone of Indian Economy.
Fair share of challenges
I have faced fair share of challenges in my life be it on a small or large scale but there is this one particular challenge that taught me how to overcome the most difficult ones. In December 2018, when I was working as an IT consultant, our website crashed due to an undetected functional bug, one week right before it was due for deployment, to be presented to the investors. At the time the reason for the crash was unknown which drove the team into panic. Initially, the deadline seemed difficult to be achieved but after a brainstorming session with my team I decided to go ahead with the fix after considering the calculated risk. After three days I realised that we were still short of time. Hence, after deliberately considering our methods I discovered that the efforts being put into functional analysis could be reduced by 35-40% by conducting regressive testing helping us to find the origin of the problem. By aligning my team appropriately we implemented the solution which lead us to find the defect and its solution in time for the demonstration. This was the first major project with respect to its complexity and revenue dependency that I had to handle. In retrospection, it was the most challenging project in terms of saving the reputation of my company due to unanticipated challenges. This was a transitional phase for me and it taught me the relevance of being a good team player to be an effective leader.
Facing challenges and handling problems has somewhere taught me compassion and empathy and made me realise we're not helpless as we pretend to be and once we set our minds to it we can achieve what we dream of. It has also made me realise the state of subjective self-assurance is ignorance and not everything you dream of can be achieved but that shouldn't stop you from trying.
