Divyansh Gupta is currently a second-year student at FMS Delhi. He is an IIT Delhi Alumnus and a CAT 100 percentiler. Divyansh did his Summer Internship at Kearney as a Consultant and was offered a PPO. We met up with him to find out more about his journey and experience with Kearney. Read on to know his experience!
Q. How did you prepare for the Summer Internship Process?
3-prong approach:
1) Did the right number of cases; not too many or too less. Diligently worked on the feedback received from the P2P buddy/mentor.
2) Industry research: Read through a lot of papers from consulting firms like Mckinsey, Bain, BCG etc to develop insights on the industries from a case solving perspective; focus on Cost, Revenue sources and customer journey.
3) HR-answers: Wrote very precise answers for the common HR questions and had them vetted by multiple seniors/friends working in consulting
Q. What was the Process like for Kearney?
After the shortlist came out, we were assigned a buddy with whom I had 3 interactions; 1 general chit-chat and 2 cases.
On the process day: A total of 3 rounds were conducted. First-round was a case interview with a manager and went on for 45 minutes. The second round was with a Principal and involved 2 short cases; 1 from my CV(interests section: astronomy) and 1 general case. Also asked me some questions pertaining to finance( simple depreciation). The final round was with a senior partner, and can be considered as an HR round. He discussed my PORs, internship and interests in detail.
Q. How was your experience working with Kearney?
Project: Government client with a lot of touchpoints. The project in itself was a long-term project due to which clients sometimes created bottle-necks. Had to use MS-excel and macros extensively. The average workload was 13-14 hours a day with 16 hours during the second last week.
Work Culture: Extremely nice and supportive people. The workload was stressful but everyone was looking out for each other. Since I received the PPO, I have been to 3 monthly catch-up calls, 2 team dinners and 1 farewell party.
