Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?  It's not the only Aditya Birla Group product I have used, but yes! it’s the story of the most impactful ABG product I have used so far. I will share my experience of shopping with Peter England. This is my story of getting the first gift for your parents from the first Salary. Shopping for Mom was easy, she is easy to please. But for Dad- pretty tough! My Dad is really finicky. What to get him? I struggled for an answer for a long time. And, one fine day I got the answer. The role of the ABG product comes into the picture. So, while I was in my hometown, I went shopping with my family. It was around mid-august, so we saw some really crazy season end deals. Yes, readers! we stepped into Peter-England. We got an amazing offer there- “BUY 4, GET 3”. Whoa!! The story is definitely not just about the offer, as I said earlier- My dad is really finicky. I could not imagine him getting 7 pairs of clothing from a single store. But I was declared wrong that day. From Casuals to Office wears, to Formals- they had it all covered. And to our surprise, he liked more than 7 pairs of clothes. More excited than anything to take this opportunity and get him something from my first salary, I couldn’t ignore the fact that the salary credited to my account was 3*, ***. After all the basic expenses I had to incur previously, I didn’t really see myself taking care of the entire bill. What gave me the courage to do so, was looking at the actual bill. The supposed bill amount was around 10k, but the actual bill was around 5.5k. Now, this was an amount I could afford. Now I am about to write about a moment I will cherish for the rest of my life. I stepped ahead with my Card and paid the amount. I turned around to see my father, who was standing there with his eyes filled with tears of joy and pride. This was the first time a girl child from our family (covering my sizable joint family) did something like that. This was my story- But that’s not all. How this did make an impact on my life? Did it make any impact on someone else’s life? Yes! My younger cousin sisters. Boastful as every Punjabi father is, my Dad, narrated this story to everyone he could. My mom told me she saw plenteous pride in his eyes every time he told the story. Those proud eyes give me the motivation to keep working hard, to something exceptional and to win every challenge beating all odds in the way. About a month ago, while I was in conversation with my 14-year-old cousin, she told me she wanted to become like me. That was the biggest compliment I could ever get from anyone. Isn’t it great how a moment, experience gives you something to cherish for the rest of your life!

How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions so far  To make everyone get into my shoes, I need to share a background story. I belong to Rampura Phul. Ever heard of it? Okay! It’s a town near Bathinda. Bathinda- Now that opens some doors. There’s where my roots are.  I’ve spent my childhood in a quite conservative mindset. Not every girl gets to move to another city for further studies. Not every girl gets to prioritize her career over marriage.  But thanks to my parents and their liberal thinking, I got an opportunity to pursue mine under graduation from Delhi  University. Mine was a rare case that I got to work with a big four firm. The happiness of my first job was insane. But, the happiness of the first salary was ineffable. The journey was not smooth. A new challenge every day, a new obstacle every day. But eventually, everything falls into its place. This is what my Mom always tells me- Never give up. Trust God and trust yourself! After working in Ernst and young for a year, I joined IIM Ranchi to pursue M.B.A. And yes! I got a chance to see my Dad’s proud face yet again. This story is very dear to me. This was my first “Dad, I am independent” moment. My first “Dad, I don’t want to be your son. I am your daughter and I can take care of you.” moment. Actions do speak louder than words! My dad is not a very expressive person. Thank you, Aditya Birla Group, thank you for the amazing deal at Peter England for giving me this moment.  Thank you, Peter England, for being “Honestly Impressive”.  So, this was the story of how Aditya Birla Group, whose punch line is “we make the thing that makes India proud”, helped me make my Dad proud of me.  #ABGLPWooMe #IIMRanchi
