As a child, I lacked self-confidence and I never had the courage to stay away from my family. Even while growing up I would avoid participating in college events, turn down opportunities to speak in public which would ultimately result in me staying in the shadows. I started lacking confidence in myself and giving up on old and close friends for the lack of motivation to try.
After graduation, I had to move out of Kolkata with the intention of looking for better work opportunities. Being completely out of my comfort zone, I was homesick and lonely residing in Mumbai. After a couple of tedious months of burying myself in work to keep my mind occupied, I decided to make a conscious effort to not give up on myself yet again. Slowly and steadily things began to change for the better. Fortunately, I found supportive friends moonlighting as my colleagues which aided my self-transformative process. As our bond grew stronger, they became my second family which gave me strength to face challenges confidently. They helped me understand my strength and acted as support systems in times of failure. Today, because of this experience, I am confidently pursuing my Master’s degree and have found courage to live life independently.
