Everyone is Clapping, I am on stage and about to deliver a speech in front of approximately 1000 people. I open my mouth and nothing come out of it not a single word; it is a complete nightmare, and then it turns out it was actually a nightmare. But why I am telling you all about this? Because I am going to tell you all a story. A story of how I overcome my fear to start working for things I want to achieve in my life. I believe that by now you all guessed what my fear was. Yes, it is Speech Anxiety or Fear of public Speaking or Glossophobia, whatever you want to call it.
Everyone has some anxiety while speaking to a large crowd when only you are at focus. But it was completely different for me, a feeling that I couldn’t explain in words. But I knew that if I want to fulfill my dream of being a Corporate Leader, I had to overcome this. So, I started to look for the solutions, and comes up with few very good techniques like talking in front of mirror and joining a toastmasters club.
In spite of my apprehensions, I joined a toastmasters group in my hometown. It kind of sounds easy but let me tell you it was not at that time. I can’t recall the number of times I made a fool out of myself by just standing there, not able to speak a single word. But day after day and month after month I start seeing improvement in myself. Today, I can deliver a speech in front of 1000 people, and hence can say one thing confidently that, fruits of your labor that you do to overcome your fear, is the sweetest among all. If you have strong pull towards your target than nothing in this world will stop you from achieving it and overcoming your fears.
