I don’t think that there will be many people in India who can say that Aditya Birla Group have not touched their lives. I knew from the beginning that Ultratech Cement and Idea was an Aditya Birla Group product but I was surprised when my brother told me that the Peter England shirt that I was wearing was actually an Aditya Birla Group product, as I used to think that it was some England based company. So I started researching about the products of Aditya Birla Group and came to realise that a considerable part of the commercials that I have been seeing ever since my childhood that includes Pantaloons, Allen Solly, Louis Philippe, Peter England and Van Heusen they all come under the same brand umbrella, that is Aditya Birla Group.
Aditya Birla Group had established its mark in a lot of different industries like Textile (Louis Philippe, Ted Baker etc.), Cement (Ultratech, Birla White etc.), Telecom Service (Vodafone Idea Limited), Financial Services (BHIM UPI, Aditya Birla Capital etc.), Fertiliser (Birla Balwaan), Non Ferrous Materials (Hindalco Industries, Novelis etc.), Carbon Black etc. and continue to work hard to make our lives a bit easier than yesterday.
We can recall our school days when our mother used to pack our lunch in aluminium foils, so that our food can remain hot and fresh for a longer duration. And whenever I recall a brand of aluminium foil only freshwrap come to my mind, which was again an Aditya Birla Group product. A lot of times we don’t even know the parent company of the product and unknowingly they play a small cameo in our day to day lives.
During the second year of graduation an unexpected course of events led my family in an acute financial crisis. My father was out of a well rooted business and was forced to venture into a new one. The transition was arduous and lengthy. I decided to contribute my bit by financing myself to whatever extent I can. All I had back then was my knowledge that I gained during my school time, so I started picking up tuitions.
I did not realised that I was riding on two boats at the same time and had no idea back then how to strike equilibrium between the schedule at college and the tuition centre. But slowly and steadily, time moulded me into a responsible and disciplined individual who learnt to value resources.
The first year we operated from our flat rooms and have only five students from the colony. After a year of hard work the number of students grew to 20, so we rented a space where we can accommodate that many students. In the process I realised that I have started making enough money to support myself. After that, I took complete ownership of my decision and have been on my own since then. Also this initiative of mine helped me earn respect and admiration of my family members and of my colleague as well.
