“Good Afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen, we have landed at the Amritsar Airport. The humidity is 85% and a temperature of 37 degrees.” said the captain of the flight. I was briskly walking towards the conveyor belt. I was anxious and excited about the new journey – IIM Amritsar. “Your Room Number is B6 402,” said Capt. Puran Singh. “Saabji, lao Saaman mujhe dedo.”, the guy accompanying me said in a Punjabi accent which not hard to apprehend. I entered the room and saw my roommate already present. I unpacked my things trying to make myself comfortable. A quick breakfast, and I rushed towards the bus. It was the first day and I did not want to be late. We entered the campus. The lush green campus with the cliché "Red Brick Wall" had made its impression on my mind. We sat in the class waiting for our turns to get officially registered and be a part of the IIM Fraternity. “PGP-04 guys please assemble in the common room at 8 pm”. One message from the Students’ Council and everyone came rushing out of their rooms. We were briefed about the things we can expect in the days to come. “Things are never going to be easy but they will be worth it. One day, this pain would make sense to you”. These were the exact words. I did not quite understand whether to feel happy or to be afraid of the path ahead. As I lied down looking at the fan which was my only respite in the humid weather, I was all so excited as the classes were to start the next day. I can’t even recall how the time passed by once the classes started. Assignments, Projects, Group Discussions made sure I was kept busy throughout. Inductions to various Committees and Clubs started one after another. Time management was at its peak. Power naps was now a powerful tool, mightier than the sword. The 20 min bus journeys every day to college had a different essence in it. You could see the local people busy in their daily chores. Gurudwaras and other places of worship were galore. You can feel it in the air – the scent of a serene place. Golden Temple was not far away. Some things are better felt. IIM Amritsar and its positive vibes bring out the best in you. One cannot deny that the road ahead is full of obstacles but every moment will be worth it. Put your shoes on friends, Its gonna be a Roller Coaster !!!!
