Deloitte offered three roles for this year’s placement - MRM, Risk and Advisory and Management Consulting role (Technology). I was shortlisted and interviewed for the Management Consulting role.
Interview Experience:-
The interviewer judged me on all parameters from behavioural to knowledge. One should understand The Big 4 firms hire you as an asset. Their consultants represent the firm in the industry so they check you on all aspects.
I was asked about myself other than what was mentioned in the CV. The interviewer asked - Whether I am scared to fail and asked about an instance where I had faced a failure in my life and whether I used the insights gained from the incident to mitigate any possibility in the future. The interviewer then moved onto my summer internship and asked about a great deal on the projects which I had executed and the value which they added to the firm. After that, he asked on topics related to Accounting and Valuation. Then the interviewer asked me related to my work experience which required a lot of brainstorming.
The interviewer, in the end, asked - How I see myself in the role as a Management Consultant in Deloitte and where do I see myself in the industry in the next 5 years.
About the Role
The role offered to me was – SAP Business Consultant. The individual will be in a client facing role, who will understand the core business processes of a firm related to Finance, Logistics, Material Management, Production Planning, Sales and Distribution, Warehouse management, HR etc and do Process modeling and redesign, which would be later handed over to the analysts for development in the SAP ERP system. The role requires the knowledge of the business of the firm as well as the knowledge of the SAP system.
How IFMR helped you?
MBA helps you to see things in a different perspective. Its esteemed faculty, rigorous curriculum and the good crowd made the coursework here insightful and eventful. My summer internship at JP Morgan Chase and Co was a rewarding experience for me as I had delivered on complex projects which made me more confident. Banking operations was an unfamiliar territory for me but the experience gave me confidence that I can still perform in unchartered territories.
Future Prospects
You will initially start off as a consultant in a team. With experience and performance, your role will expand to managing single to multiple projects. You can also enter into freelancing after a certification and a considerable experience in the industry, as firms also hire Senior IT Business consultants on an hourly -contractual basis.
