Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) emerged as the winner of the National Final of CFA Institute Research Challenge in India along with IIM Bangalore and NMIMS Mumbai. The event was held in Mumbai on Saturday, 4th February 2017. The CFA Institute Research Challenge is a global equity research competition that aims to promote best practices in equity research and valuation among university students and also tests their investment report writing and presentation skills. Started in 2006, the challenge is also referred to as the Investment Olympics as students from the top universities of the world compete in it. Last year, more than 4000 students from about 865 universities in 70 countries participated in the challenge. After being announced as the North Zone Winners, IIFT competed against the likes of FMS, XLRI, IIM Ranchi, IIM Bangalore, ISB Hyderabad, JBIMS and NMIMS Mumbai in the National Final to progress to the next round. It will now represent India along with IIM Bangalore and NMIMS Mumbai in the Asia Pacific Regional Investment Research Challenge hosted by CFA Institute in March 2017. The AP Challenge will consist of winners from each Member Society of the Asia Pacific Region including the top 3 winners from India. The winners will advance to the Global final to be held in April 2017. IIFT proved its mettle yet again as the team of five consisting of Akshat Kabra, Karishma Jain, Pranav Sanghai, Prasiddha Bhajiawala and Sameer Sood edged out several of the top b-schools to bag the top honour.
