After studying for hours, giving several mock exams, mock GD & PI’s and clearing the real deal here I am, in front of the IIFT gate, the land of dreams. Although I had seen pictures of the IIFT campus on the internet, I was stunned when I saw it with my own two eyes. The scenic beauty, the aesthetically painted buildings were a sight for sore eyes. The Pond in the centre of the campus of the cherry on the top. Being a premier college for trade in the country I came to IIFT with a lot of expectations and believe me I was not disappointed.
We were given single occupancy rooms so that every student can have their privacy, something which is not very well respected in our country. As everyone knows the 1st trimester in a top b-school is always gruelling. I did things I could never imagine possible for me, I broke through all inhibitions, learned how to prioritize my work, enhanced my knowledge and learnt the value of time, all in the first two weeks!! IIFT taught me this. Students who want to work hard and succeed will find ample opportunities here. The facilities, such as a 24*7 open Library, 6 Bloomberg terminals, a wide variety of reading material and world class teaching faculty are just some of the really top notch facilities here. I haven’t had the chance to completely explore and I am sure many more surprises await me.
IIFT has the perfect balance of work and play. Events organized by the seniors such as Break Free really is a day I can never forget. There are 5 committees, 6 clubs and 5 cells to encourage extracurricular activities, promote teamwork and leadership. The most important core value at IIFT is unity. The importance of unity amongst the batch has been emphasized repeatedly. In a world of such cutthroat competition, only our batchmates will stand by us. Examples of seniors helping each other in time of need really made my heart swell with happiness. Every junior has a senior buddy whom he can talk to about anything under the sun, since some things are easier to share with a senior rather than a batchmate.
The preparatory sessions organized by the seniors for us can be classified as the 8th wonder of the world. Topics ranging from Marketing, Finance, Operations, Consulting and Trade, everything is covered by them. They take a lot of efforts to design assignments for us and give each and every one of us personalized individual feedbacks!! It’s simply hard to imagine how much effort they are taking for us despite their own busy schedules.
The stressful life can be tough on our bodies sometimes, so a perfect solution has been crafted to help us overcome this problem and that is Yoga. Yoga’s importance is selfexplanatory and cannot be overestimated. Yoga sessions take place thrice a week for 1 hour in the morning at 6am. It feels really refreshing, doing breathing exercises and physical activities remove our need for caffeine. IIFT pays a lot of attention to detail and inculcates the same within us. Coming to IIFT really was the best decision of my life.
