Before jumping into the WAT Topic and PI questions, let me share my profile with you: 10 CGPA in 10th (CBSE), 95% in 12th (CBSE) and 9.09 GPA in B.Tech, Engineer Fresher. I secured a 99.64%ile in CAT 2019 with 97.94%ile in VARC, 99.81%ile in DILR and 97.94%ile in Quant.
So the interview can be considered as divided into the following segments:
- Form-based: After you get a call from a B-school, you are supposed to fill a form mentioning your co-curricular, extra-curricular and academic activities till now.Since I am a trained Bharatnatyam dancer, they wanted me to tell them about the history of Bharatnatyam. Apart from that, they asked me - Do you think classical dance forms are still popular? If you are living in a foreign country and people of the Indian community there ask you to teach only Bollywood dance style to their kids, will you be okay with it? They might try to make you change your stand or contradict your point. But if you have clarity of thought, you won't be stuck.
I was also asked questions on "Writing", my second hobby. They wanted to understand what are the topics I write about and how many followers I have. A question on writing also led to one in reading. They asked me about my favourite books and the famous line from one of my favourite books.
- Academic: For a few of my friends, the panellists also asked about the Academics in Undergraduation. But for me, they asked me basic mathematical questions like How to calculate the minima and maxima of a function? Will a quadratic function have both minima and maxima? Which function will have both? What if a double derivative is zero? So, have a good understanding of concepts from your stream.
- General Knowledge questions: They asked me the names of a few places. Firstly, they asked me to name 3 places in West Bengal and also to name 1 city in Assam and the capital of Tripura. So, you might expect such basic questions, usually after they are done with questions from the form. You might also expect some questions from the place you belong or places you've studied or worked at. So, be prepared with that.
Final tip: For any interview in your life, follow the 3Cs - Clarity, Confidence and Composure. These three things complement each other too. Have clarity in your thoughts and communication so that you can convey better. Be confident in what you are speaking, and even when you turn out to be wrong or you are feeling panicked, maintain your composure.
All the Best for your interviews!
