As we all have heard many times that “Everyone is Unique”. I believe the same holds true for everything material including a campus of different colleges. Still, if someone asks me to highlight the facts that glorify the uniqueness of IIM Kashipur, I will start with its location. Our IIM has an added advantage of scenic beauty along with the enormous amount of industrial presence. Initially, small-scale and agricultural based, industries have significantly increased their foothold, thanks to the administrative support. Such added advantage comes in the form of live projects and industrial visits for a better understanding of the working of a stable management system and to help us apply the concepts learned throughout the 2-year course.
Another thing that adds to the uniqueness of our campus is the campus itself. IIM Kashipur is among the first in the new IIMs set under the 2011 plan to move to its permanent campus. The huge 200 acre campus has all the facilities required for the development of the students and such a huge area also makes sure that the students are physically fit and energetic. The campus caters to the needs of every student no matter their interests.
The next thing that a student analyze before choosing a college is its placement statistics. IIM Kashipur has shown that though not very old, we have the mettle and the capability to provide excellent placement opportunity to each and every student. The Placecomm committee works day and night to make sure that everyone gets a fair chance to prove themselves in the placements. Even with the current job scenario, IIM Kashipur has successfully reached the 100% placement mark. With the proper support of the administration, our institute has proved time and time again that when it comes to placements, you can bet on this IIM.
Another uniqueness of this campus is the large number of clubs and committees that caters to a large variety of interest of students. And the fact that all these groups are student-managed helps them develop the managerial skills required in the professional world. We have a committee for placements, another for those interested in finance, marketing or operations. There is a club for helping the less fortunate people of our society. The hostel mess is completely student-run. This helps them to understand the needs of the huge diversity of their colleagues.
The next highlight of our campus is the Student Exchange Program. IIM Kashipur reinforces its cooperative relations with Ecole de Management de Normandie, Caen, Le Havre, Deauville, France, ESDES Lyon Business School, Asian Institute of Technology, Bangkok, FPT School of Business, Ha Noi, Vietnam, Alba Business School, Athens and Aalborg University, Denmark so as to further develop academic and cultural interchanges with these institutions through mutual assistance in the areas of education and research.
The last and final reason is that this institution is “the road less taken”. A large number of students are misinformed about our college and hence they prefer what can be said as the easy path. I am not saying that it is wrong. However, a decision without considering all the facts and figures is most likely to be wrong. This is an institution that started with a batch size of 60 and increased to 260+ in 7 years. That’s all from my side.
