IIM Ranchi successfully completed the Summer Placement process for the batch of 2014-16. This was the 5th year for its flagship PGDM programme and the 3rd year for a one-of-its-kind PGDHRM programme. There were substantial improvements in the placement scenario this year as average number of offers per company as well as the average stipend offered went up substantially for both the batches. The PGDM batch had a total of 123 students for whom 62 companies made a total of 141 offers. Among the companies that visited this year 26 were first-time recruiters. The placements for the PGDM batch saw big names like Microsoft, Hero, Deloitte, GlaxoSmithKline, Becton Dickinson, Toyota, L&T, RBI, Coca Cola among others. The average stipend for PGDM students stood at 57,900 with the highest stipend reaching 1,60,000 and 2,50,000 for domestic and international assignments respectively. Sales & Marketing continued to be the most preferred domain of the students with 35% of the batch choosing to pursue internships in it. While Fast Moving Consumer Goods & Consumer Durables remained the most sought after sector in this domain, this year saw a plethora of companies from other sectors such as Engineering, Healthcare & e-commerce. Some of our prominent recruiters were Becton Dickinson, Bluestone, TATA Steel, Hero Motocorp, Godrej, People Group, among others. Niche profiles offered in this domain were Social Media Marketing, Digital marketing & Brand Management. Finance turned out to be the second most sought after domain with 21% of the total offers coming from that domain. This year saw several new recruiters queuing up for the brightest minds in the field of finance, offering roles in Corporate Banking, Equity Research, Retail Banking, Investment Banking, Risks, Treasury & wealth management. Some of the big names were ICICI Bank, RBI, Federal Bank, Darashaw, NCDEX. Around 16% of the batch bagged roles in the General Management & Consulting domain in companies like Deloitte, EY, Wipro Consulting. This was followed by the Operations domain which saw 14% of the batch get placed in companies like TATA Steel, Cummins, L&T, Wockhardt, Lafarge. IT/Analytics saw one of the biggest names of the season in the form of Microsoft. Around 10% of the students got placed in this domain. The picture was rosy for the PGDHRM batch as well. They saw 24 companies making a total of 42 offers for 38 students. The average stipend for PGDHRM stood at 56,100 with the highest package going up to 1,60,000. While prominent recruiters continued to repose their faith in the students, a number of first-time recruiters across various industries thronged the campus. Some of the top recruiters of the PGDHRM Class of 2014-16 were Larsen & Toubro, RPG, Samsung R&D, Titan, ICICI Bank, Wipro Consumer Care, Bluestone, Sun Pharmaceuticals, TATA Steel & Wipro Technologies. Besides, Jindal Steel & Power recruited for its Leadership Program (they also recruited PGDM students). Other niche HR roles offered were HR Analytics, Corporate HR, Industrial Relations, etc. Staying true to the goal of inclusive growth for the society, IIM Ranchi also provided opportunities to intern with Non-Government Organizations & Not-for-Profit Organizations such as Rakshak Foundation & Sarthak Foundation. This glorious placement scenario wouldn’t have been made possible but for the truly diverse and talented batch of students at the institute. IIM Ranchi boasts of one of the best gender diversity ratios in the form of 41% female students. Also, 12% of the students are from non-engineering background like Arts, Science, Medicine, Pharmaceuticals. ------ Edit Note : Team at InsideIIM.com had no role in creation of this Story
