Our campus is the only IIM in the National Capital Region and we have a location advantage of being located only a one-hour distance from the national capital Delhi. This also helps us to get more industry exposure.
My campus has some unique characteristics. Our campus is one of the new IIMs and recently moved to the new campus we have the freedom and ability to recreate the culture and set new standards for our institute. We are the only batch to have lived in both the rented campus and own campus. We have experienced the old culture in the rented campus, but there are some things which we would like to change and eliminate some activities and the way we do things. Due to the constraints in our old campus, our senior batch only had to continue the old culture. So this year we will be changing the traditions and set up a new one.
Secondly, there is a store in the campus which is entirely student-run. This gives you the practical experience of Sales – selling the products at an optimized price so the students would prefer the store to the outside retail stores, Marketing – continuously informing the items available at the store and continuously informing to the new batch, Finances – costs involved in procurement of items and managing income and operating expenses, Operations – procurement, scheduling of students who will be in the store depending on the class timings, for the students. This is the kind of support we get from IIM Rohtak. Moreover, this is the freedom we as students of IIM Rohtak enjoy. We are very grateful for the opportunity to study in such an institute.
Lastly, the unique thing is the diversity of the students we have here at IIM Rohtak we have students from the most southern part of India and northernmost of India and the students with five years of experience and students who do not have the legal age to have a drink.
Which ABG Company would you want to work for and why?
Considering my engineering background which is Mining engineering and having the industry-specific knowledge, I would like to work in Hindalco Industries Limited under Aditya Birla Group. It is one of the world’s largest Aluminium rolling companies and one of the biggest producers of raw Aluminium in Asia with substantial revenue and net income and extensive operations network which is required for accomplishing the dream of making India a manufacturing and industrial hub contributing to various Industries like Defence and Aviation.
