IIM life is synonymous with long class hours, late night assignments and lot of CV building activities. But that day something was different. It started as usual. I woke up at 8:30 to attend the class at 8:45, so we can expect the hurry. I attended classes on an empty stomach till noon and then I had lunch in 10 min to spare time for pre-reads for next lecture. At the end of the day I was pretty tired and exhausted and was cursing the day I chose to do an MBA from an IIM.
To give you a perspective, I was living a very flexible life before coming here. Sleeping till no one wakes you, eating home cooked meals (The one that mom makes, not the one you make for yourself), never missing an episode of a sitcom and watching as many movies as you want. I had a sweet gig. But that was all in the past.
They say if you want to live comfortable life in future, you have to get uncomfortable now. Yeah well if I can get that in writing with guarantee I will trust it more. But I am digressing. So I was feeling disheartened at the weary schedule. But then as I was returning to hostel I heard a noise, a noise of my friends playing volleyball. Last time I played volleyball I was in school about 7 years back. So I wasn’t keen on playing but then something inside me pushed me to play once. And I kept on playing for four hours. For those four hours I had no deadline, I had no assignments and I wasn’t worried about where my life was going. For those four hours one can say I was living in the moment. From that day volleyball became a part of my daily routine. I never looked back. And that is life.
If you are unhappy with all the change happening around you, feeling down due to certain situations then just hold on to one thing that makes you happy. Just take one activity a day that gives you joy or one conversation with someone who understands what you are going through or one song that makes you forget everything or that one individual that makes you feel special and If you can do that then you will not only sail through it but you will cherish this time.
