ABG IMPACTING LIVES (IIM SIRMAUR)

In a country full of conglomerates like Reliance & TATA, Aditya Birla Group is marking its presence by impacting the lives of the people of this country for more than a century. Birla group has been one of the active participants in the freedom struggle of India and post-Independence, ABG has been contributing to the country’s development & growth and currently the market leader in many sectors such as telecom, Aluminum rolling and carbon black. Abiding by their mission statement of delivering superior value to their customers, shareholders, employees and society at large, they have made sure that they have been taking care of the community by reaching out to more than 7.5 million people annually through the ABG for community program.

ABG’s products have had huge impact and continues to impact lives of many as it has been impacting mine. There are two such products that are close to my heart. One of them is Freshwrapp, the aluminum foil used to pack food to maintain its freshness and hygiene. Freshwrapp has been used by my family every day to make sure that we had hygienic food. The other product that I have an emotional connect with is Van Heusen as this is the only shirt brand my father prefers and I always gifted him the same on his birthdays as he hardly gets time to shop for himself and it gives me joy to see him wearing them on his birthday. Thus, ABG and its products has intertwined into the greatest memories of my life.

JOURNEY TO IIM SIRMAUR

I am an optimist and love to see a jar half full of opportunities and tend to ignore the negativities. I was a confident and an active student in school, taking part in events but not compromising on my academics, thus creating an image of a sincere student in the eyes of my family, friends and teachers. I scored well in my boards and everyone was happy. This led to an expectation and out of the mounting pressure to choose a domain, I decided to prepare for IIT-JEE and opted science stream. I started dreaming about getting into a top notch tech institute of India. I gave fullest of my efforts into the preparation but couldn’t clear it and now all the eyes that looked upon me in expectations turned into eyes of disappointment. People around me started doubting my caliber and started advising me to opt a BSc course and not engineering. I started doubting myself but being an optimist, I pulled myself up and got into an engineering college. I was still satisfied with what I had achieved and yearned to excel at that place. I completed my engineering not with flying colors but managed to get some confidence back and that was very essential for my career and personal development. After my engineering, I worked in a company for 2 years to further nurture myself. My job was of a managerial role and so decided to pursue management in the best institute of the country, the IIMs. I prepared as much as I can for one whole year and the yield was an offer from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management Sirmaur which I gladly accepted.
