How big Is Aditya Birla Group in My Life
India has witnessed the uprising of many successful enterprises over the centuries, but not many of them went on to make an impact in the lives of millions for over a generation. However, some pioneers went a mile ahead, who engraved their name in the history of this great nation. And for me, Aditya Birla Group (ABG) is part of that elite cluster, a name that is hard to miss, for having its presence felt in almost every phase of my life.
Although we all have had so many meals during our lifetime, we would cherish the memories of the food prepared by our mothers during the early days at school. But never did we notice the presence of ABG in the form of Freshwrap aluminium foils making those moments so special. It was a clear reflection of the depth at which the ABG presence can be felt. As a person hailing from Kerala, Hindalco for me is a name that has been synonymous with the industrial face of Kerala. From being the producers of India’s first aluminium ingot, today it stands as an icon setting new benchmarks for industries, especially with regards to reducing carbon footprint. Yet again at the time of the telecom revolution in the country, ABG has been instrumental in connecting the masses across geographies through Vodafone-Idea as it is known today, with the largest customer base and revenue. Idea network has been a silent listener to most of our conversations, making it a part of our little moments of joy and sorrow. The presence in the fashion sector through brands like Van Heusen, Louis Philippe, Allen Solly, etc. ensured that I would look smart and sharp on every occasion. The supreme quality offered by these brands at affordable pricing ensured that it would effectively make its presence felt at almost every gathering. Now looking ahead at my dream of opening a vocational school for underprivileged and differently-abled kids, UltraTech cement would be the one-stop destination to set the foundation and reinforce the mission. With all the above experiences I would undoubtedly say that there is a part of ABG in everyone’s life and it is synonymous with the pulse of the nation and dreams of the millions.
OVERCOMING CHALLENGES TO ACHIEVE GOALS
How long does it take for a person to fall from the greatest heights in one’s life and hit the rock bottom? What does it take to learn to pick ourselves up and fight back? Well, for me it took just a day for my world to turn upside down and over two years of courage, patience and determination to make a comeback.
It all started on a fine Onam day in 2014, when I was participating in a tug of war competition conducted as part of the festivities. Little did I know that my life would be a roller coaster ride from that day. I ended the day with three bulging spinal discs that got me bedridden for the next two years. When my surgeon declared that I would never have a normal life again I felt shattered deep inside. From being an independent person, who loves to travel a lot, turning into someone who has to depend on others even for the slightest task and losing my mobility was more than what I could handle. However, this gave an opportunity to realize and appreciate the endless blessings that I had been enjoying over the years and thereby enjoy the very little moments in life after that. I made a comeback to life all thanks to physician and his expertise in Ayurveda medicine. I went back all the way, and started learning to walk at age of 21 years. It taught me that unless it’s a happy ending, it is just the beginning of something new and exciting. The biggest takeaway from the experience was that, I learned that every opportunity that seems impossible at first sight contains within itself an opportunity to turn ourselves into a hero. Later I got an opportunity to be a mentor at IMS Learning Resources and inspire a lot of young talented minds, currently spread across the finest B schools in the country. Life throws challenges at you, but the grit to never give and hang on will reap results. Ultimately it all boils down to how you manage to get back to feet after the fall, and only that matters.
