Impact of Aditya Birla Group in my life Aditya Birla Group, a fortune 500 company with revenue of $ 44.3 billion has seen six generations of leaders since 1857. Starting with cotton trading operations from a small town like Pelini, Rajasthan in 1857, the group slowly moved into sectors like Textile, Cement, Aluminum, Chemicals, Oil, Telecommunication, Retail, Financial services, Media, Agri-business and many more. Today ABG touches the life of millions of people with its presence in 36 countries globally. When I sat down to pen this write-up, I was awestruck to see the myriad products of this brand which we use- Cement, Telecommunication, Textile, Groceries, Retail, Financial Services and many more. As of today in my home there are three Vodafone connections. I stay connected with my family, friends and colleagues; consume data to stay connected and be aware of the happenings around me. Pantaloons outlets have been my place of choice for apparels and hand bags. The transition from a student to an employee has sharpened my decision making skills and need for quality, longevity of products I am buying with my hard earned money.  Not once have I had a bad experience from ABG, the brand has continuously amazed me with the choice on offer, pricing, quality and availability. I spent my childhood in Ranchi and I recall how my parents would depend upon several vendors for day to day needs. It would mean travelling from one store to another and trust me it was a time- consuming affair. Things have changed since then and the credit goes to ABG’s “ More” stores across the country, which serves as the single stop shop for fresh groceries and condiments. I am sure that it is making a change and touching millions of households in India. The word P has now changed from “profit” to “planet” and “people”. Organizations are looking at bringing together financial returns and meaningful social impact. Being a strong supporter of education for marginalized groups and sustainable development, I really appreciate ABG’s contribution in the field of education, sustainable livelihood, re-cycling, medicines and many more

Challenges of my life and how I overcame the same To quote from the book, “The Road Less Traveled”, by M Scott Peck-“Life is difficult. This is a great truth, one of the greatest truths.  It is a great truth because once we truly see this truth, we transcend it. Once we truly know that life is difficult-once we truly understand and accept it-then life is no longer difficult. Because once it is accepted, the fact that life is difficult no longer matters “ Like any other aspiring employee, eager to make a change in the world through a great career; and hailing from a humble background, I have had my own share of sweet and sour moments in life. There has been instances in the last few years as an employee, I have been left disheartened and depressed. Though I never had my family expecting me to fend for them, I considered myself at fault for not taking up the responsibility. I was not able to land in my dream role or good job with a great salary after my post graduation which made me rethink of the path I have walked so far. It had also affected my health badly and I was in medication for a long time.   I decided to take charge and reflected on my doings, re-aligned myself while working; I promised to reinvent myself with skills and knowledge to take the next step in my career. I decided to rejuvenate myself by leading a healthy lifestyle and practicing yoga. I started preparing for examinations and was working at the same time. This phase nurtured me personally and professionally. It made me more focused and resilient. I believe these two qualities can take anyone miles. I always wanted to be a part of TISS and have been fortunate to get an opportunity to be a part of TISS ODCL program, which I believe is definitely going to do wonders in my life. My life is an example that success is not a destination, but a journey which helps one rediscover themselves all the way. #ABGLP, # TISS- ODCL, #ABGLP Woo ME Competition
