Why Aditya Birla Group is big in my life?
May it be chemical industry, textile industry, agricultural fertilizers, telecom or financial services, Aditya Birla Group as a conglomerate has always created a huge impact in my life. Being third largest Indian private sector conglomerate only behind Tata Group and RIL shows how important ABG has been in every Indian’s life. Even after getting established long before independence, name and fame of this group has been continuing to grow till date.
The presence of ABG in my life is massive. Two of the three basic needs in every Indian’s life (
Roti, Kapda aur Makaan) are getting fulfilled by ABG by one means or the other. Brands such as Allen Solly, Van Heusan, Peter England have always been my favorite ones to wear. With its fashion retail chain Pantaloons, it has well proved how important it is in my life.
ABG’s importance in my life is not limited only to clothing. Its products such as chemical fertilizers used in agriculture has been equally important to me since my father is a farmer and my family’s livelihood depends only on agriculture. ABG has also played a vital role in my life by connecting me to outside world through its telecom services.
Idea Cellular (ABG’s Telecom service) completed its merger with Vodafone India and thereby became largest telecom company in terms of subscribers and revenue, surpassing Airtel last year.
There are other things of ABG such as financial services which haven’t been used by me till date since I’m very young to use them but I’m sure they are definitely going to be useful for me in future. Overall, I could say that there’s no such service of ABG which has not been of any importance in my life and thus I can say that it is the only conglomerate which has made this much amount of impact in my life.
How I overcame challenges to achieve my ambitions in life so far?
One of the biggest ambition in my life was to pursue MBA from IIM. I always wanted to share how difficult it was for me to be where I’m right now and finally since I’m here studying in IIM, I can talk about it. So, it all started when I was in my second year of my engineering. I was not very comfortable with the programming languages which I had to study anyway. And since giving up is not I really like to do, I decided to complete my engineering in the same stream (Information technology). But then I came to know about CAT and finally found a way to switch to something I had always dreamt of.
But then came the real challenges. It is not easy to shift from one field to another and thus I had to go through a lot of things while preparing for CAT. I knew how tough it was to get into an IIM. Placements during final year of engineering made it more challenging than it actually was due to the fact that I couldn’t completely ignore placements as I had to keep it as my backup plan. So, I planned to give specific amount of time to both the placements and to CAT. And as they say, you cannot take your boat across the sea if you are afraid of the waves and so I worked hard and finally got admitted to IIM which was my ambition in life.
The hustle behind all this is not known by anybody other than my family but only I know how much I worked hard to be where I am right now. This experience has taught me that no matter what if there’s a will to do something you like, achieve your goal, then no one can stop you. The path you go through might be challenging, you might face problems and even fail but you should never ever give up.
