IMT Hyderabad, a premier b-school from the state of Telangana, took active participation to “Run for a Reason” and help charities receive much needed financial support through the Airtel Hyderabad Marathon 2017.
This year’s edition of the city’s Annual Marathon saw an overwhelming response from IMT Hyderabad. The incumbent students and faculty of the Institute participated in events across the 10K, Half Marathon and Full Marathon categories. The Director of IMT Hyderabad, Dr. Satish Ailawadi, inspired the students with his remarkable performance in the 10K category.
The Airtel Hyderabad Marathon which is recognised as the toughest road race the country has on offer consists of multiple flyovers and steep terrain. In spite of the challenging course, participants from the Institute performed at par with veteran athletes. At every intersection, a flash of maroon was noticeable as the Institute participants progressed through the course. The students and faculty of IMT Hyderabad encountered numerous alumni who in turn set the pace for the race.
The race was not only run by the IMT family but also supported by them. They made sure that motivation was kept high throughout the event so that fatigue of the run did not hinder their performance.
At the conclusion of the event, medals and certificates were distributed to reward the participants for their athletic accomplishment. Students and faculty from the Institute couldn’t help but smile and take in a sense of achievement. IMT Hyderabad eagerly awaits next years edition of the Airtel Hyderabad Marathon.
“Fitness is considered to be as critical and as important as the management studies at IMT Hyderabad. Faculty and students take great interest in sports and fitness. Fitness has many benefits we all know - but one major reason to promote it here is to build a culture and help our students adopt a healthy lifestyle. Stress is bound to happen in corporate life but productivity can be increased and stress reduced by regular workouts and staying fit. It makes one feel better mentally and physically at the workplace. We have taken up this cause and are making an attempt to create more social awareness around it. We have launched IMT Hyderabad's own Trail Marathon last year and hopefully see growing bigger this year”, said Director of
IMT Hyderabad, Dr. Satish Ailawadi.
