“ABG symbolizes Inclusive Growth, Performance, and Values” - Sneha Gopalan, Human Resource Leadership Participant at Aditya Birla Group.
A conversation with Ms. Sneha Gopalan, HR Leadership Participant at Aditya Birla Group gave us deep insights into the culture that one experiences at ABG. She maps us through her journey at ABG and how it contributed to her professional development.
An XIMB alumnus, she completed her MBA with specialization in HR with two-year pre-MBA work experience in TCS. After interning with the Aditya Birla Group in 2014 she was offered full-time employment by the group. Currently, she is working as the Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) in Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail Ltd., Bangalore.
Excerpts from the interview:
XIMB:
What makes waking up and going to work on a Monday morning exciting?
Ms. Gopalan: The endless and diverse opportunities to learn and to apply your knowledge to create an impact.
XIMB:
How are the goals of ABG aligned with your personal goals?
Ms. Gopalan: As a human resource professional, I would want to impact the culture of the organization. Enable a performance-driven, development-oriented, fair and inclusive environment where employees have an emotional connect with the organization over and above everything else. The industry-leading HR practices that ABG has been following and continuously improving is a testament to its commitment towards employee wellness as well.
XIMB:
What made you stick with ABG for so long?
Ms. Gopalan: The first year with ABG as a Leadership Associate gives you the chance to work with different businesses and verticals of HR, thus resulting in the development of overall business acumen and understanding of HR in depth. It also gives you an opportunity to get feedback from leaders even at CHRO levels and above, thus building perspective. The next two years at a manufacturing unit lets you see and apply your IR learnings. Post this; you get an opportunity to work with a service industry company. These experiences build a strong foundation for future leadership roles.
XIMB:
What does ABG symbolize?
Ms. Gopalan: Inclusive Growth, Performance, and Values.
We sincerely thank Ms. Gopalan for enlightening the students of our institute about her journey in ABG and share her learning from the experience.
