HINDALCO & ADITYA ALUMINIUM
I belong to the Western part of Odisha. In that part of Odisha, the biggest industries are Hindalco and Aditya Alumina that is located about 50 kilometers away from my house. Besides its growth and business strategy, which influenced me a lot about these industries is their CSR involvement. My brother is currently working in Utkal Alumina. He told me how SAKHSAM YOJANA by AGB helped out the local unemployed people. This socio-economic initiative to provide employable skills related to the sewing industry is one of the shining stars among the collectibles of the conglomerate. The pay structure has surely been one of the major pillars in the upliftment of our family and we shall remain ever grateful to the organization that not only provided a secure future to my family in particular but also the community around that region in general. He got an offer of Revenue Inspector but opted for Aditya Birla Group and never regretted it. He realized how ABG is important in his life. This is how ABG has changed his, mine and everyone’s life.

HOW I OVERCAME CHALLENGES TO ACHIEVE MY AMBITION IN LIFE:
Well, the journey to get into a B-school started in 2017. By that time, I already had 3 years of work experience. But it was not easy, as I was working in the core sector and the timing of my works were in shifts. So, after having day shifts and night shifts, it was tough for me to find time for preparation. My cat 2018 was a disaster and I ended up with 72 percentile. Well after that I decided to go for another try and it was tough to convince my parents. I was almost touching 26 and with 4 years of work experience, I was a bit skeptical about whether to go for it or not. After some deliberations, I and my parents decided that I should go for it. I joined a weekend coaching class in Vizag. My company was 30 kilometers away from the city. Those days were too hectic (no hike in salary, layoffs). I had to complete my job by 2 pm and again had to pick the bus to Vizag at 2.45 pm and then had to return before 10 pm. I remember I used to walk 2 km daily from the nearest bus stand to my company. On Sundays especially I had classes in the morning When my night shifts were there, I used to go to classes even after having my night shifts and had to come back to shift by 6 pm. So, it was 18 hours of work. Well, fortunately, I completed that period, appeared CAT and this time percentile touched 90 percentile. Though it was not as good as I expected, looking to my constraints at that period, I was happy that I got into XIMB.
