B Schools can be intimidating at the first glance. In the early days, all one gets to hear is that the first few months are going to be really hectic and time for one’s personal interests and hobbies is a distant dream. You wake up early, attend lectures, go for sessions and before you know, the day is already over. It is amongst this fervent atmosphere that I heard about an event in MDI called MPL, which out of the blue asked us to participate in cricket and have fun. I joined it with full enthusiasm and what followed was more than just fun. It was actually the integration of oneself with the institution in true sense.
What is any institute without a senior junior bond? MPL in its true essence gave us the chance to open up with our seniors with whom we till then, had a very formal relationship. What started as an informal interaction, eventually blossomed into great friendship as we opened up with each other during the course of the tournament. Also, we understood how essentially, sports and extracurricular activities are indeed a part of life at MDI and to actually flourish as an individual in a b school it is important to maintain a balance between them and academics.
Talking about the cricket played, I believe it was the most intense and professional sports tournament I have ever been part of. The franchise based format, the last ball finishes and the frequent sledge to the opposition, all added charm as well as drama to the game. My team’s journey ended with a rather sour defeat in the final but it hardly mattered for long as we already had so much fun playing cricket. Last but not the least, I made great friends in my year during the tournament who will stay with me in my journey over the next 2 years in MDI Gurgaon.
Which company in ABG?
In Aditya Birla Group, I’d like to join Hindalco Industries limited. My educational background of a mechanical engineer and prior internships in the respective domain will enable me to better understand the working of the company and make me a better workforce. Also, the chance to work for the metals flagship company of Aditya Birla Group which is the world's largest aluminium rolling company will be a matter of great pride for me and I’d love to be a part of Aditya Birla Group.
