Being willing to step out of the comfort zone once in a while; taking risks in life that seems worth taking. The ride might not be as anticipated if you'd just planted your feet and lingered, but it will be a lot more interesting. It was one of those class where you learn a concept, but you do realize a lot more interesting stuff that happens around you with the help of your facilitator and classmates.
It was the time in our classroom where we were made to realize that each person makes a decision or choice based on the observations or preferences of others while ignoring his personal information. Yes, we were discussing the information cascade. 'Curiosity is the wick in the candle of learning.' That's how the whole lecture was, with a classroom filled with curious minds which were a result of some pre-class assignments. It was a practical session; there was a simple activity that was performed twice, the outcomes of which was compared for understanding the concept.
The activity was once conducted, the outcomes were noted based on which and then the concept was explained by the professor. Now there was this whole frenzy in the class; everyone had their theory of how the activity went ahead and their interpretation of the outcomes, lots of questions that needed answers and lots more theories, the professor addressed all of those. Now, the same activity was repeated except this time the facilitator has informed that whom so ever succeed in this activity would receive a reward. At the end of the activity when we checked the outcomes despite knowing the idea behind the activity, the actual concept of information cascade and that they would get a reward for succeeding in the task.
In spite of everything, the activity again showed how accurately the information cascade worked. It was quite an interesting practical class.
