My Interview experience at SJMSOM, IIT B 2021-2023
The Interview experience of SJMSOM, IIT B was very different compared to all the other B-school interview processes. Instead of using the Zoom platform, SJMSOM used a very creative Gather application that mimicked the real experience virtually. Overall, it was one of the most seamless interview processes. They even played Tom and Jerry cartoons in the auditorium to relax the students.
The Gather application was a virtual SJMSOM! We had to create our avatars and it was almost like a 2D game where we used the interface with the keyboard arrow keys. We had to go to our respective tables assigned to us in the auditorium in the application. From there, the admission committee members guided us in every step that followed.
My interview started with my introduction. The panel was very patient and they let me complete my whole introduction. This followed up with a couple of questions from my graduation. The questions were basic and the panel was very cooperative. This was followed up by some HR questions about my biggest achievement in life, my strengths, and my weaknesses, and the typical why MBA question. I was also asked a lot of questions about my hobbies that is photography. Since I am from Kolkata, and the West Bengal elections were planned for the next month I was asked to analyze the current government. I was also asked about the former ministers of West Bengal. This followed up with one last question on Howrah Bridge and then the interview ended. After the interview, I had my document verification in the Gather application itself.
Overall, this experience was different, exciting, and stress-relieving!
