My interview at SJMSOM, IIT Bombay was on 5th May, 2022. We got to know about the whole interview process approx.15 days prior the interview date. It was something distinctive than usual B-School interviews.
SJMSOM rented an online platform named Gather for conducting the whole interview process. On this platform candidates can create their avatars, interact with other candidates as well as their team leads, making it prolific and less stressful. For better understanding and usage of Gather platform core team prepared YouTube tutorials, which were of great help as they were very instructive and explanatory.
Apart from this, IIT Bombay has a mentorship program/Buddy program which is an innovative idea of interacting with candidates. In this program a mentor is allocated to each candidate. Mentors being current students at SJMSOM,IIT Bombay. These mentors help in solving/discussing candidate’s queries related to the interview process, admission process, and other general queries.
On the day of interview, I was the 1st to get my document verification done in my group/table. This meant that I was going to be the last person for the personal interview. I waited in the virtual lobby for approximately 5 hours for my turn. Thanks to the Gather platform these 5 hours were not tormenting as it provided me a stage to interact with other candidates and team leads to have better understanding of the process and gain some insight about SJMSOM. There were 3 panellists [2 professors and 1 alumina].
My interview started with my brief introduction and then it almost revolved around my work experience. Overall my interview went well.
Overall, I would say that the PI process at SJMSOM was unique and interactive experience for me. I really appreciate the efforts put in by the students and the Core Team to make the interview process smooth for the candidates.
