IIT Bombay. A dream for many. A reality for some. After scoring 98.99 percentile in CAT 2021, I sat ready for my interview with SJMSOM on 6th March 2022. As the interview process was virtual for our batch, it took place on a platform called Gather. It was an amazing experience as before the interview, I was able to virtually move around the SJMSOM campus and interact with people just like I would have in person.  My interview panel consisted of 3 people (let’s call them P1, P2, and P3). All of them were very warm in congratulating me on a good CAT result and wished me good luck for the interview.  The interview mainly consisted of 3 parts (each interviewer focused on 1). P1 asked me about subjects and topics in my bachelor’s course (BTech CSE). Although I was a bit overwhelmed while answering the questions, I still got almost all of them right. I was able to put forward my explanations of the topics asked efficiently. After a good 15-20 minutes of high paced question and answering, P1 passed the baton to P2. P2’s questions revolved around economics and how technology has helped the economic landscape all over the world. This topic was very interesting to me. The structure of this part of the interview was more like a discussion rather than just questions and answers. P2 was accommodating of my thoughts and ideas on certain topics, but asked a few follow up questions which left me enthused to learn more about them. P3 gave me two real life scenarios and asked me how I would generate a digital solution to help the case. This section demanded more abstract thinking than the others, due to which I asked the interviewer for some time. With my points and solutions noted down, I then moved on to present my ideas to the panel. P3 did not show any emotion and it was very hard to decipher whether he agreed with my ideas or not. But regardless, his follow up questions proved that I was able to share my thought process clearly.  With this, the panel informed me that the interview was over. They wished me good luck. I was satisfied with my interview and was very appreciative of how well the entire interview process was managed.
