My interview experience at SJMSoM, IIT Bombay for the 2023 batch was the best interview experience amongst all the B schools that I have appeared for the interview. I had my interview scheduled for the 4th of March afternoon slot. SJMSoM opted for the Gather platform to manage the whole interview process. The software was created to give an actual offline in-person-like interview experience at SJMSoM virtually. This was the main highlight of the entire admission process. It allowed us to interact with other candidates as well as there were mentors and volunteers in case of any query or emergency. They also created the mock session, to familiar us all with the Gather platform. The platform was highly interactive, it felt complex initially but turned out to be a lot of fun. The team also arranged Tom and Jerry episodes as stress busters. The mentors turned out to be very helpful by sharing their own experiences as well as clearing each and every query multiple times very patiently.
There were three panelists taking my interview, they started with my introduction and as I was a fresher they came directly to my final year project and also talked about my area of interest, which is Blockchain Technology. Luckily, one of the panelists found this interesting and we had a great conversation for around 5 to 7 minutes about the technology. There were many follow-up questions about the technology, applications, and concepts underneath. I was able to explain every question very clearly. The other questions that were asked to me were from my academic subjects such as object-oriented programming and computer networks. Very basic questions like inheritance encapsulation and the OSI model. One of the panelists asked me about my views on the recent farm bills and also which other calls do I have and why I would prefer the SJMSoM over other IIMs. That was the end of my interview and the panelist asked me to leave the meeting. The duration of my interview was around 12 to 15 minutes and I felt that time passed very quickly. Overall the whole interview process was one of a kind experience.
