Bengaluru: Puneet Gupta and Payoj Kisan of Indian School of Business won Provenance -the Operations event of Revelation 2016, the annual management festival of Symbiosis Institute of Business Management.
The duo pipped competition from Xavier Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship (A Yashwanth Kumar and Reenesh), who finished second, and Symbiosis Institute of Operations Management and Christ University.
The event, which saw over 50 teams across Indian participating, was kicked off with an online round post which the shortlisted teams were invited on campus.
Provenance, stretched over two days, grilled the participants not only on their theoretical knowledge but also made them use the concepts in simulations and live tasks.
There were eight rounds, including ‘Airlift’ where participants were given a situation to oversee relief measures for the recent Chennai floods.
However, the most grilling and interesting round was called Wargasm’ where participants from all the management events - Finance, Operations, Human Resources and Marketing - came together to implement their business ideas in teams.
The teams had to submit a business plan and required coordination from all functional specialisations. It was in this round that the importance of operations in a company had come to the fore.
The event had one more round which took participants back to the drawing board - where they had to use lego blocks to build models.
