Aditya Birla Group has impacted my life in various aspects, the most significant ones being telecom and mutual funds. The decision to choose Idea over other telecom service providers was completely influenced by word of mouth. The choice I made 7 years ago when I left home for the very first time turned out to be phenomenal. The superior quality of voice and data services at reasonable rates made me feel close to my family and friends and proved that distance is insubstantial in the present world of technology. Idea provided connectivity even in remote areas which most of the other service providers failed to provide. The customer service has been exceptional which has made me a loyal customer and this is the major reason of not switching to other providers like Jio despite providing services at fairly low prices and majority of the people were attracted by the free services initially. It made me believe in the fact that businesses thrive by leaving no stone unturned to take care of their customer’s needs and this is the way an empire is established. Even if you diversify, you need to follow this principle.
My family has been investing in Aditya Birla Sun Life Mutual Funds. They have various options to choose from thus providing good investment opportunities to people with different income brackets. Aditya Birla Sun Life Tax Relief 96 scheme served the objective of providing tax benefit along with long term capital growth. The fund performance has been improving since inception in terms of trailing returns. The variety and quality of services has influenced to explore other services as well for me and family to grab decent returns by investing.
Challenges – something you can’t avoid to get success. We hear stories of success since our childhood and how people overcome challenges to achieve their goals. But these stories sometimes take form of serious comparison rather than inspiration. It is true that some form of competition is essential to help a person grow and improve constantly but in some cases like mine this took a slightly negative form. Due to expectations of the family and society, I started comparing myself to others at every stage due to which I found it difficult to take pride in my achievements. I always found someone better than me making it difficult for me to be happy and motivated.
I decided to overcome this by talking to my close friends but that didn’t help much. I started watching motivational videos and devoting a lot of time in sorting things out within my brain. I started looking at people being happy for little things which may be irrelevant to others. I came across so many people who were exceptionally well in some areas and not in others. Over the time I prepared myself mentally by putting lots of efforts to accept the fact that you can’t be the best because that leads to saturation and your scope of improvement reduces.
I reached a stage where I stopped caring about expectations of others and started setting my own expectations. It took a lot of time to make my parents believe that it’s not the society that drives your decisions post which I received all their support to do what I want without any comparison.
“Don’t compare your life to others. There’s no comparison between the sun and the moon. They shine when it’s their time.”
