It all started when I cracked my GD-PI of NMIMS and my resignation to the job. I was way excited in getting into MBA and had a high level of expectation on career and being a MBA graduate.
MBA taught me how to tackle time crisis, worst case scenarios and most importantly grooming in an executive manner. This grooming and handling scenarios help me develop myself and grow. This was clearly shown to me during my summer internship interview.
Being peaceful and understanding the company business and wants helped me to crack my interview, ultimately grabbing a chance to serve the firm and most importantly to have a hands-on on my interest.
I was quite excited to intern in MBA, as I had to almost change my background from engineering to finance as a whole.
I got an opportunity to witness the foreign transactions, the guidelines and method followed by the holding company for its business and even for the holding firms. I had my induction at the very beginning and later after several quiz and tests, I was allowed to assist the hands-on practicality. Over the period of 8 weeks, I worked on various targets which involved from gathering information about the client and their holdings, keeping in all the aspects of the information, doing rigorous data analysis, projections for the same and then finally making recommendations.
My overall project was divided into three broad stages, with a timeline assigned to it.
- To understand Derivative Products
- To have an understanding and working of the company
- To implement the same in SAP
I being from engineering background, just has the knowledge of finance which covered in my MBA 1
st year, I only knew financial accounting, Cost Accounting and Corporate Finance. So to understand and involve in my internship, I had to do the financial Derivatives Certification from Udemy. This was one of the best thing that had made me understand the fundamentals and working of derivatives
After the course I was given to analyse the methodology and understanding, ultimately making a call. My main milestone was 1
st to understand derivatives and then to implement them in SAP(which was a bit difficult part). I then started watching Youtube hedging videos and make my assumptions according to my project and then trail it on provisional data.
The main thing that helped me in solving my challenge is my interaction with SAP specialists on SAP Derivative Platform. The Q&A session over there was way productive and half of issues used to get solved after a session.
It was all over an enchanting experience to work in the ongoing world and most importantly in a domain of my interest and which is new to me.
