It was early 2007 and two things I knew about our cement and mobile phones was Birla cement and Idea phone number. We were reconstructing our house and all I could understand in the conversations between the contractor and my father is Birla cement is important. For a long time, I thought the thing that keeps my house together is called Birla cement it was only after my father corrected me that I understood the material is cement and Birla group gives the best quality. My father wanted the best for the house cause he wanted to build the heritage for generations to come. This was my introduction to Aditya Birla group and their brand value. If my father can trust the brand with generations in his mind, I can trust it with my eyes closed, may be an overstatement here but emotions don’t follow logic.
I bought my first phone back in 2007 or 08, requirements were simple I should be able to call no matter where I go. I’ve spent most my vacations climbing a mountain or the other and every time I went onto climb a mountain my parents being the loving ones, they are cared a little too much for my safekeeping. The Birla cement was the reason I bought an Idea SIM which hasn’t failed me till date. One would be amazed to hear this the SIM card I use today is the same I bought back in 2008. It’s been a healthy 11 years together. Be it building our heritage house which still stands tall without any need of repairment or my first and only till date Idea SIM card or my first formal shirt purchase when I joined college, it has always been with Aditya Birla group touching my life one way or the other.
I fell in love with basketball when I was 12 with no rationale, no role model, no league it was pure love with the ball and hoop. I started playing everyday with no exceptions be it sun or rain and was reasonably good at it and made it to the school team. Everything was amazing till I broke my ankle in one match and I can still remember the doctor’s word “I never be able to play the same way”, it took me some time to fathom what he said. But my heat never accepted it a trekker, an athlete, a sprinter in me could not accept it. I searched every book that there is on human body and healing, and zeroed down on Indian Yogic sciences. Yoga which seemed like a fancy term for old people turned into a way of life to me. The science is misunderstood with so many misconceptions that I can’t even start counting. A science that has everything to take human body and mind to it’s fullest potential, it has been years I am practising it. It not only cured my ankle and made me a better athlete but gave me the best thing I could have imagined patience; this patience instilled an unperturbed space inside me irrespective of any chaos I have around me. 10+ years of yoga leading to being a good athlete, Basketball Captain and a calm human being. This persistence of practising a science and building personality took me long way similar to a conglomerate like Aditya Birla growing in varied sectors being a monk amidst the mortals.
