Journey to IIM Rohatk
IIM Rohatk’s journey has never been easy for me. Born in a big joint family, I always got little of things. My father was burdened with responsibility of taking care and earning bread for whole family. My father has 4 brothers, and being the smallest and only highly educated in the family, everyone always had high expectations from him. My father has shop of electrics, which was source of income for the entire family. He also looked after education of my all cousins.
Later as it happens in every joint family, there started rift between the family members. So they mutually decided to get separate so that harmony between the relations could be maintained. So now we have to move into a new house, which was to be constructed entirely.
I have seen how beautifully my best friend, Pragya’s house was conducted. When I asked uncle, he told me about the Ultratech cement and how happy and satisfied he was. I was amused by the quality and cost structure of the cement and by the benefits. So I made my mind to do the same for my own house construction. I was very happy and excited to get a new house with my small family.
But another major issue was to convince my father. Ha had a friend who has dealer of cements, and was offering good discount to my father. His family and my family are friends from many generations. My father was completely wooed by his friendship and his discount services, and had made mind to use the cement which was referred by him only. He was not ready to hear me out at any cost. So I thought to go to my mother and ask her for help. She said, “Beta! You know well your father. He won’t agree at any cost. And moreover that uncle is our family friends. It will be very rude, if we won’t purchase cement from his shop”. So I was silenced by virtues of relations and social stigma.
But I have decided, no matter what it takes, I will try to convince my father at any cost. After all it was a dream come true for me to have a home. So I kept thinking entire day, planning keeping all the aspects in mind and waited till night. At night, when my father finally came home from shop for dinner. I gathered all my courage, and started the conversation. Papa refused to listen. I begged him to listen me out once. I told him about the Aditya Birla Group and then about Ultratech cement, and defined its impeccable quality and low price along with other benefits. After so much argument and logical reasoning, finally my father gave up and agreed for Ultratech cement. I could not believe my ear, it was like a dream come true. I was jumping with joy. That day was one of the happiest day in my life, which I will cherish for the rest of my life.
