As a young kid who wished to look dapper every time I go out, fashion and retail was everything to me. I can distinctly remember my first visit to an ‘Allen Solly’ store. That could have been the weirdest version of me till date I would say, at any place. I guess my eyes popped out drooling over the ‘bestest’ of collections and I can proudly say that ‘Allen Solly’ was my first ever branded shirt. It was just the beginning. The day before joining college, I was in a Pantaloon store getting my wardrobe ready and you can imagine how much of it has been a part and parcel of my life.
Recalling ‘UltraTech cement’, advertisements are something that comes rushing in. It blended really well in the minds of every Indian imparting a feeling of nostalgia, emotional attachment just like it belonged to them. While asking you to ‘
Add Colour to those Who Make your Dreams Beautiful’, you know how ABG wants to go beyond an advertisement to bring in a drive to create a change. Definitely, I was one among them to be inspired. Maybe, who knows, that could have been the inspiration in developing an entrepreneurship idea. These are the little things that can create a difference in the minds of millions of people out there. Above all, I challenge, you can’t find a house under construction without the presence of ‘Ultra Tech Cement’, at least in my hometown.
‘An idea can change your life’. You might have used this at some or the other point in your life. Just like everyone, even I have a story to tell.
I can still clearly remember that day, the day I decided to step out of my comfort zone and stand for myself, the day I took the sweetest revenge against my biggest fear.
From the earliest memories that I have, standing up against my loved ones for even the most irrational cause has been difficult. The kind of repercussions I had to face even after knowing them beforehand was tiring but continued to follow me everywhere. So, this happened nearly 4 years back during the most controversial college elections of our time. My best friend in college was fighting for one of the candidates whom I found very unethical, irrational and not just fitting in for the post. Every time he asked me an opinion, I nodded the head for him and not for me. Though I was physically present accepting him through the first half of the conversation, I was more like a robot to his master who couldn’t use a voice of his own. Nearly after 45 minutes into the conversation, for the first time in my life, I decided to step in. I thought “This shouldn’t happen. I need to stand for myself even if it hurts him”. Sneaking into the conversation, I made myself clear on my stand. I can still feel, how it nearly killed me when he walked off from the discussion giving me the most disturbing eye contact. He wouldn’t talk to me for the whole next day. But two days later, when he hugged me and said “You were right”, the euphoria I experienced was out of this world.
So, everyone gear up, stand up for yourself and most importantly be yourself. Of course, this idea opened up the best opportunities in my life and so is the reason why I am studying at one of the most prestigious institutions in the country.
