28 March 2015, Pune:
Kirloskar Institute of Advanced Management Studies (KIAMS) conducted its 16th Convocation Ceremony in traditional style. Mr. Pramod Chaudhari, Executive Chairman of Praj Industries – one of the leading players in the Biofuels Industry – was the Chief Guest for the occasion. A total of 104 students graduated with flying colours. The top-of-class show was stolen by women power with Vaanya Bhatia bagging the Gold Medal while Pranasha Sahu takes Silver.
“Everyone is going to remember the girl who won the gold in the Silver Jubilee Year of KIAMS, right?” quipped Vaanya Bhatia during the Batch Photograph following the Convocation, to good-natured leg pulling by her batchmates.
The convocation was peppered with mention of the Silver Jubilee Year, and the journey of
KIAMS. While addressing the gathering of parents, alumni, students, and media, Dr. C.N.Narayana, Director, KIAMS was reminded of the untiring journey of KIAMS ever since its foundation stone was laid on 25
th of November 1990 by that doyen of Indian Industry, Late Mr. Shantanurao Laxmanrao Kirloskar.
“KIAMS has been a source of unbridled joy to Kirloskar Brothers- who were personally involved in conceiving it and setting it up as a Centre of Excellence,” said Dr. Narayana while presenting the Annual Report. “It has brought immense joy to numerous companies of K-Group- initially for making managers “Globally fit” and later in bringing quality budding managers in their folds through PGDM Program. It has garnered ebullient joy for the amazing teachers and professors, who have seen a quality B-School rise before their eyes while adding their own bit to the remarkable institution that
KIAMS is today. But more than anything, it has been a joyous journey for its thousands of alumni wherever they work and go. They are KIAMS brand ambassadors of spreading the joy and beyond.”
It maybe recalled that KIAMS began its silver jubilee celebrations by announcing a fully funded Fellowship for 2 meritorious students. The Kirloskar Bright Scholarship – alternately known as K’Bright Scholarship – has been named after the inspiration and founder father of KIAMS, Mr. S.L.Kirloskar. The selected students can be excellent either in academics or extra-curricular. The K’Bright Fellowship includes a 100% tuition fee waiver for the PGDM programme at KIAMS, a one-on-one CXO level mentorship and Internship interview at one of the Kirloskar Group Companies. The K’Bright Fellowship is being introduced with the KIAMS batch of 2015-17 and will be adjudged by a panel of eminent academics and corporate leaders.
In his inspirational address to the passing out batch, Mr. Pramod Chaudhari referred to the fact that KIAMS is the only institution in the country that started out as a captive Centre of Excellence for managers of the 5 companies of a corporate i.e. Kirloskar Group, and transcended into a much-aspired B-school for the budding managers of the future. “Unless you share responsibility on all parameters, ‘Growth’ has no meaning,” said Mr. Chaudhari. “Wherever you are, two things are going to make a difference, – innovation and an entrepreneurial approach.”
Having been originally conceived for managers and executives of the Kirloskar Group, the campus at Harihar, on the banks of River Tungabhadra, ranks amongst the best in the country in terms of infrastructure, ambience and natural surroundings. A number of events will be dotting this Silver Jubilee Year of
KIAMS, widely recognised as one of the foremost B-Schools in South of India.
