With trends changing, and increasing autonomy of teens in formulating their own handmade fancy career goals these days, it's not rare to find a good number of artistically gifted characters even in the most premium b-schools of our country (which are believed to be made only for the creams of logicality or mathematical arena). And if you're going to be the next 'I don't wanna kill my dream for this shitty traditional education system' kind of individual, I suggest you step in. A COLD vanilla never thought of losing its USP while being poured on a HOT brownie, neither did the strongest spirit ever bad while being mixed with a cheap soda. Yes, I'm talking about the possibility of a fusion here.
Especially for someone like me, who comes from a bit isolated and 'not so lavish metropolis' named Silvassa, so career focused to pursue an engineering degree from the 15th best engineering college and later on MBA from the 15th best MBA college of the country (coincidentally of course), having dance as a hobby (or more than that) was not surely acceptable by this society. For me, the sole motivation to join a premier b-school like NMIMS-Mumbai was to get an exposure and understand the culture of the industry for what my soul belongs to, i.e dancing, and not the fascination of a heavy deal package of some fat corporate (that as well would be a small part of my focus but not initially).
Things weren't definitely as easy as they seem from the surface. Realising every night that you're sacrificing what you love for something that ain't much relatable to you, and things you actually don't wanna get into, made my life during the initial trimester, a pure hell. With things passing by, clocks ticking to 2 every day, lectures completing their count to 20, having presentations on point and almost a year pass by, you realise that it's just a matter of perception and you only experience what you believe. If you believe that these things are actually multiplying your ability to get your passion done more accurately, the experience is different. If you believe that the people you've met here are actually more helpful in pushing you towards your dream, the experience is different. If you believe that now you need to practise even harder and have to perform even better on the stage because losing competitions will mean that you're not made for the industry and you've to take your journey back to the dark-corporates, the experience is different. And then, there obviously is a scope of belief which would mean that you're wasting your time here in this illusionary education system which is just a fraud and money making agency, the experience would no more be different from your latest scariest dream.
This video is made up of all this. Joining NMIMS and later on believing that whatever is happening is just an add-on to my motivation of running that extra mile during warmups, stretching my legs, a millimetre extra during practices and keeping the eye-contact for one extra second with the audience.
Presenting you a unique concept by me 'Hiphop VS Classical' with my colleagues from team Zephyr, which I believe wouldn't have been possible with this vision and the people supporting me.
I repeat 'Welcome to the world of dual careers.'
Thanks for your time.
