I still remember that day vividly, April 19th 2018. I was working in my office and a push notification came on Pagalguy app. MDI results announced. Tremors started shaking my hands, heartbeat raised to 180 maybe and with a lot of tensed feeling, I opened the website to check my result. That was it, I was offered an admission into the flagship program of MDI. That was the moment I embarked on this Mandevian journey. Reached this lush green campus on 12th of June, I started exploring. The buildings’ names are inspired by our rich Indian heritage. The architecture, the crowd, everything was fantastic. Slowly apprehensions started in my not so confident mind. Can I manage to pull it off this time? Can I make the best use of opportunities provided by this great institute? (Considering my bad record in my undergrad) I brushed off those fears under the carpet and started getting ready for this beautiful journey. June 14th 2018, director Dr. Himadri Das sir graced us with his presence delivering words of wisdom. After that, we started our routine, which is very demanding. Guest sessions from esteemed speakers from diverse domains in corporate industry, few distinguished alums and faculty sessions took place in the next ten days. Those days were really fun and it is not exaggerating to say that we all managed with not more than two hours of sleep daily. We used to doze off even if we got a 5 minutes break between sessions and sleep became dearer than food. Then started the Mandevian routine after the induction week is over. We started attending regular classes and it was really an enriching experience to sit in a class with peers from such diverse backgrounds. Everyone is an achiever in something or the other. It is really true that MBA is a degree where you learn more from your peers than the professors (not undermining the professors here, but it is the reality). Most important things a person would learn in his/her MBA journey is to manage time effectively, doing smart work rather than slogging the entire day without a proper plan, prioritizing and last but not the least, self-discovery. MBA helps you to understand you better so that you can tune your skill set in line with your strengths. Finally, it has been a great one month at MDI and many more to come on this journey of a lifetime.
