All it takes is a SNAP of fingers, and you are on the beautiful campus of Symbiosis. A lot of hard work and sweat is hidden behind good things, and behind my success, there are months of struggle and preparation. Like an ordinary aspirant with my ambitious plans, I started my CAT preparation after getting two years of work experience. Although the d-day didn’t go well as I planned and hoping for, my preparation didn’t go in vain. Instead of sulking in a corner, I burned the midnight oil, and I cracked the SNAP 2017 entrance with 99.29 percentile, got into SIBM Pune, and now I am working as a Project Specialist for Cisco. In the past few years, SIBM Pune has created a special place in India’s top B-schools with outstanding placement records and winning ideas for case study competitions. This has made SNAP a very attractive entrance exam after CAT to get into the top brands.

SNAP is easy compared to other MBA entrances like XAT, CAT, and IIFT; I am not just saying this because I cracked it but because the type of questions asked in SNAP is a little more direct and less time consuming when compared with other entrances. In 2017, we used to have 150 questions in 120 minutes, but for SNAP 2020, it is 60 questions in 60 minutes. From this year onwards, the aspirants can take two attempts and increase their chances to the Symbiosis city.

How is SNAP different?

SNAP is slightly different from CAT; although it has three sections, just like CAT, the type of questions asked is very much different. You can also toggle among the sections and maximize your score by solving the questions that belong to your area of strength.

In the General English section of SNAP, you can expect questions on :

• Analogies
• Synonyms and Antonyms
• Contextual usage
• Idioms
• Jumbled sentences and paragraphs
• Passive and Active voice
• Sentence Correction and  Completion.

For Antonyms and Synonyms, follow Word Power Made Easy or search a list of 1000 commonly used words for GMAT. For grammar practice concepts from Wren and Martin.

In the Analytical and Logical Reasoning section, you can expect questions on:

• Tables & graphs(Column and Bar graphs)
• Syllogisms
• Critical reasoning
• Blood relations
• Symbol Based problems
• Missing pattern
• Folding of shapes
• Coding and decoding puzzles.

In the Quantitative, Data Sufficiency and Interpretation section, you can expect questions on:

• HCF & LCM
• Simple interest(SI) and Compound interest(CI)
• Speed time distance
• Venn diagram
• Ratios and Proportion
• Geometric and Arithmetic progression
• Trigonometry.

How I practiced for SNAP?

• I solved every question of SNAP entrance, which came in the past ten years. I gave several mocks and analyzed those mocks thoroughly.
• Some of the questions were very different, which I couldn’t put in any section, so I learned the logic behind them. Often, questions with the same reasoning repeat from previous years with a change in the values. So, it becomes necessary to solve the previous years.
• I believe that almost all the MBA entrances are about accuracy. So, one should play on accuracy. I did the same, and 95% of the questions that I attempted were correct.
• For me, General English was not a problem as I was following the English newspaper daily. Also, I made sure that I am revising ten new words every day from the cue cards for antonyms and synonyms.
• For quantitative ability, I created a notebook of formulas that I encountered during the mocks and previous years, which helped me attempt the questions in the SNAP entrance.
