Aditya Birla Group is one of the largest conglomerates having its roots in various industries and operating in 34 countries and more than 1,20,000 employees worldwide. The group has interests in viscose staple fibre, metals, cement (largest in India), viscose filament yarn, branded apparel, carbon black, chemicals, fertilizers, insulators, financial services, telecom, BPO, and IT services. It is a 162-year-old company that has affected every Indian in some way or another by connecting them through their vast range of products. My first encounter with the Aditya Birla group was in Pantaloons. My father had recently shifted from Bhubaneswar, Odisha to Rajkot, Gujrat and during that time there was a bit of cash crunch in our family. We found Pantaloons and got such good clothes at such affordable prices. It became our go-to place for buying fashion apparel. The next thing that positively impacted us was the Planet Fashion Line. My father just cannot trust any other outlet with his formal apparel shopping. We were in Mumbai for the last few years, my father would just look forward to the Planet Fashion Sale and would take the whole family with him. I, my father and my brother would buy a plethora of apparel from their awesome in-house brands like Allen Solly and Louis Phillipe. It just makes my day seeing my father that enthusiastic and happy doing shopping which he generally loathes. And that is why I am so grateful to the Aditya Birla Group so we can enjoy such precious moments with our loved ones. These small moments are the ones that will remain with us throughout our lifetime.
Just like ABG, I tried to make some lasting impact during my college life. When I joined my college, I noticed that we didn’t have any automotive clubs and My friends who were at other colleges were boasting of the various activities that their various clubs like SAE and ASME used to do. We talked with our seniors when we were in the 2nd year about it and they felt positive about the idea of starting chapters of those same Automotive clubs in our college too. But that year we couldn’t establish it as we didn’t get much support from the first years as other people from our batches were already busy other non-technical clubs. Our Seniors sought support from the First years and as a result, they probably thought that the seniors will be hogging all the glory and that year CET-B SAE Chapter couldn’t be established. Then came the third year, I along with 4 of my friends was adamant about establishing the college chapter of the same automotive club. What we did was we became the support the first years needed to run that club by themselves. We did the required classes for them so that they are equipped with the skills to run that club. We gave positions of responsibilities to the first years and made them shadow their allotted seniors. And we also made sure that there is more than 1 team so that there will be competitiveness among the club itself. After we got a huge response from the juniors and almost all of them came forward to register for the club. Finally, the CET-B SAE and ASME chapters were established when we were in our 3rd year and the legacy continues.
