Long Ago We Were Strangers, Now We Are A family

As I started for my 4 hour journey from New Delhi to Kashipur, quite a number of thoughts crossed my mind. Having been brought up in a metropolitan city, will I be able to adjust to the new place? How will be the campus life in a small town like Kashipur?

It’s been one year and the campus now for me is my home.  I have barely spent a night outside the campus. Located in the heart of Uttarakhand, the institute boasts of the scenic beauty that is located in and around the campus.

How many are lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the Himalayas in the morning, before they embark upon the busy day ahead. How many get to breathe in an atmosphere free from pollution. How many can have the luxury to study in isolation away from the noisy city life. How many can go to sleep listening the crickets chirping outside and an owl hooting nearby.

Many would say living at a remote place is not their cup of tea, and that it might serve as a location disadvantage for IIM Kashipur. I have a different look about the campus though. The isolated nature of the campus, has only strengthened the bond not only between the students, but between every stakeholder associated with the institute. The teachers, the administration, the students, consider themselves to be a part of the family residing in their 200 acre property working day and night to make it better than it was the last day. As for the remote place, the campus is well equipped to serve all the basic amenities that one would need to carry out their daily lives.

But does that mean we do not know what’s going on in the outside world? Of course we do. Almost in every corner of the campus you will get connected to a Wi-Fi network and get your share of knowledge about the outside world.

The campus has one of the most advanced infrastructure setup. Six people live on a floor and have a refrigerator, a washing machine, a microwave and a water purifier at their service. The radiant cooling system present in the hostels in a unique solution to the extreme weather conditions prevalent in Kashipur. The hostel facilities makes you feel at home more than anything else and gives you the most relaxed environment to study in.

IIM Kashipur is unique in so many ways. Be it the temperature, be it the curriculum or be it the location itself. In every way IIM Kashipur is extra ordinary.

IIM Kashipur is definitely the place to be if you want to do an MBA less ordinary.
