Part A
How Aditya Birla has impacted my life?
Growing up in a tier 2 city, there were not many brand names that I came across, but Aditya Birla was something synonymous with a giant company which has reached in multiple sectors and businesses in India. Aditya Birla has businesses in 14 industrial sectors, 20 countries and is valued at $44.3 billion.
From one of the most famous advertisements on TV about UltraTech Cement to “Kya Idea Sir Ji!” it has been a part of everyone’s lives through childhood into adulthood.
I remember having a dilemma about choosing which sim card to buy for my first mobile. My parents recommended and assured Idea would be a great choice and it has still never disappointed me. It has always given me assurance of connectivity wherever I went. After my 12th standard, I went to Mumbai for an undergraduate degree. It never occurred to me that I would have to port my sim to another network as the flawless working kept me connected.
I have associated Pantaloons with assured quality and variety whenever I went shopping there. Having a brand of Indian origin gave me an assurance of the greatness of our country. Before coming to IIM Kashipur, I did the shopping for formals as I lacked a formal wardrobe, Van Heusen and Peter England were on the top of my list when considering the quality and the brand association with them.
Having said all that, Aditya Birla Group is a name which every Indian is proud of and will be in the future. It has been with us before independence and will continue to make India a strong nation ahead.

Overcoming Challenges in Life
My mother is a retired school teacher. She wrote a book on topics useful for school students. The language of the book was Marathi. Even after visiting a few publishers, the work done was not satisfactory. To get the book edited as per specific requirements, I decided that I’ll edit it on my own. The work included getting the written material typed, proofread and then compiled into the book along with the illustrations and pictures on the cover as well as inside. Being a book for school goes, it was imperative that it looked attractive. To complete this project, I outsourced typing and proofreading. By the time I got the material in the required format, I found out the software required to create the book so that it is in the required format by the printer. I learnt the basic use of Adobe PageMaker and Corel draw. Learning that took a lot of effort and judicious use of the internet. I knew how to use Adobe Photoshop, which helped me to create the illustrations and the cover pages. All this work was done in about two weeks. I attended college as well and did the work in my free time.
The outcome was I learnt new techniques in the software which helped me later in life. I know the process of creating a book from written material which is appealing to children. Finally, I would say, completing this project on my own gave me confidence that I can learn whatever skills I need to achieve my goals on my own. This achievement provides me with an anecdote that I can use when helping someone overcome his challenges in life. It is not about how difficult the task looks like, believing in yourself and taking the first step toward it is what differentiates the people on the peak and those who wait on the foothill wondering if they ever could do it.
