Sitting on the top of the lush green beautiful hill, the best thing about IIM Indore is the broad array of academic opportunities which it provides to students like me. There are a vast number of academic fields of study which one can pursue, such as psychology, neuroscience, stochastic process and accounting. I feel like I will be able to pursue any interests I have at this university, which is essential as I try to make an informed choice about my career path. It seems as if all doors are open here, allowing me to truly be the captain of my destiny. In addition to this, diversity and acceptance are emphasized a great deal at my university, as they should be. This focus has greatly enriched my education and experiences. Instead of shying away from different views and experiences, I have been able to fully engross myself in them and discuss different views with others. The professors rarely censor students, and because of this openness, students become more tolerant of others beliefs and lifestyles. The diversity of my campus, and its focus on educating the population of this diversity has been one of the greatest contributors to my education at this university.
A class hung up in a Romantic Nostalgia
Qualitative Research Methodologies an elective offered to us by Prof. Srinath Jaganathan. In one particular session, he started to talk about Love. Especially his own love story of leaving his home to marry the one he loved, and we couldn't understand why he was talking about his love story in a session that was scheduled for "Introduction to Rigorous qualitative techniques." But it was very interesting to listen to him; it was like a romance movie in the late 90's being narrated to us. When we all realised that the class was going to end in another five minutes. He started telling us how important was resilience and empathy which helped him go through the tough times of his love without the support of his parents, and how important are these qualities for an ethnographic researcher to create a rich and meaningful content. Then he concluded the class with a small note on ethnography. It was very noteworthy of him, to have identified the key as to, "What is it to be an ethnographer?" This is one of my memorable classes because I believe behind every achievement or scholarship lays small human elements that make them cherish-able and worth-while.
My Wish-list
I would like to be a part of Allen Solly, because I love the collection, specially a range which showcases contemporary traditional Indian designs on shirts! Every time, I enter any mall I lookout for the Allen Solly showroom and have my eyes on the new collection. It is so innovative, special and very well crafted. The message that each shirt carries talking about the efforts that the firm takes to keep the traditional craftsmanship alive is very inspirational and I would want to be another reason for their support. I believe being a part of this organisation, I might get a valuable opportunity to reach out to all the marginal and traditional craftsperson in our country and make sure that our art lives beyond time, as they have stayed like before. I believe Allen Solly is a top on the hill, unique brand which has set out to have its very own customers who stand up for ethical and sustainable sourcing, traditional yet fashion oriented.
