What makes IIM Kashipur unique?
IIM Kashipur, located away from the mainland Kashipur, provides a peace of mind to all the ignited minds it caters. If location is considered then it is a perfect blend as we can not only enjoy the nature but also the proximity of manufacturing and corporate hubs. Nature can be enjoyed as Nainital, Bhimtal, Almora, Jim Corbett National Park are nearby, and Shivalik ranges can be viewed from my hostel room window itself. Moreover, campus itself supports flora and fauna in its 200 acres of area. Also you are sure to face the vagaries of nature during winter.
Manufacturing hub of Rudrapur, which caters to automobile and FMCG sectors, is located about 50 kms. away from the campus. This provides ample opportunities to the students in the form of live projects and industry visits. The Corporate hubs of Delhi NCR are important from the placement perspective.
Located in a tier 4 city it is the rural IIM of India, where the student can get in touch with ‘Bharat’ also. This gives us an opportunity to identify the actual needs of rural India and contribute to its development in the future. We are constantly adopting new techniques keeping in mind the global objective of reducing the carbon footprint. We have our own biogas generation plant whose one of the input is the waste generated by the students’ mess, for hostels we have adopted the radiant cooling method against the normal air conditioners, and our ex-director also announced about the upcoming in-house solar power plant last year.
Amongst the 6 new IIMs we were the first to move to the permanent campus. This underscores the fact the all the stake holders and the founding fathers are very clear about their vision and mission. To achieve this target no compromise has been done. Not only the academic building but also the hostel blocks are of world-class levels, constructed keeping in mind all the necessities of the students.
Now coming to the two major stake holders, the students and the faculties, we have students from diverse backgrounds from law to technology. We also have renowned faculties in respective areas and the pedagogy style adopted by them is to impart knowledge not only through case studies but also through live projects.

Given an opportunity, I would like to serve at Essel Mining and Industries Ltd. I am an engineer by choice and have also served in steel sector for 4.5 years. Under the Kyoto Protocol we need to strive hard to reduce the carbon footprints. The wind power division works for the similar mission. We are still novice in the renewable sector but there are miles to go as we are an energy hungry nation. Though my areas of interest are operations and marketing but my experience lies in projects execution. Hence, I want to serve in the techno-commercial arm of this group company.
