“Everyone makes memories, we capture them” is what we fondly keep saying about
the Shutterbugs, the Photography Club of IFMR. There is not a single event in the IFMR Sri City campus that is not covered by the Photography Club members.
At the same time, we condition ourselves so that we can also conduct events to increase photographic awareness among people. We had chosen Abhyudaya 2018 as the platform of the same.
About the Event
Our event
“Lumière Angle” consisted of two rounds:
- The first round was an on-campus round where the participants were required to send a pair of photos, where one photo in the pair is the edited/processed version of the other. Since this was not an elimination round, participants were invited for the on-campus round.
- The second round was a theme-based photography competition, where the participants were given few themes and they were required to click a photo that would best fit with the respective themes within a given time period.
- This was the first time since inception Photography Club was organizing its on-campus round, and naturally, we all were a bit nervous about the turn-up of the participants. However, our tension was proved to be short-lived, as participants started coming from different parts of Chennai and Hyderabad on the morning of the event. The themes that were given to the participants were:
- Blue
- What?
- Celebrating Differences
- Trading

While the participants were busy to capture the best shot, the Photography Club members did not have the luxury to sit idle as well! There were multiple events going on simultaneously which we had to cover. This is where we take pride in managing ourselves efficiently!
Results
For selecting the winner for the event, we went to random people across the IFMR campus and asked them to grade the photos in a scale of 1 to 10 (of course, we did not mention which photo was clicked by whom). Then finally, on the basis of that score and the consensus of the Shutterbugs members, Prasanth N Kutty from XIME, Chennai was selected as the Winner!
